Sunday Roast Diaries: Impossible, York

Sunday Roast Diaries: Impossible, York

Last weekend, we visited Impossible Wonderbar & Tearooms in York to try their brand new Sunday Roast menu. The menu was freshly launched and I was so excited to be trying it as it looked amazing. I’ve visited Impossible a few times now as their wonderful and creative cocktails drew me in. However, the last visit was in July for their Bridgerton themed Bottomless Brunch where we were served an Afternoon Tea with unlimited cocktails and a quartet played music from the TV Show. It was rather regal! From the themed brunches, cocktails or just grabbing a pot of tea and a scone – There’s something for everyone.

Impossible is located in St.Helens’s Square, so very central in the bustling cobbled streets of York. As it was a beautiful day, the tables outside were heaving with customers having a few drinks and soaking up the lovely atmosphere. We were seated inside at the lower bar. After mulling over their huge drinks menu, Stefan went for the Sand Storm signature cocktail which was a concoction of Ophir Gin, Bergamot, Apple, Lime and Peppercorn. I was getting into the spirit of my upcoming trip to Italy and ordered an Aperol Spritz. We were both blown away when Stefan’s drink came as it was an all-singing, all-dancing sort of affair. Once poured from a tea cup, it bubbled away! The cocktail was also sat above a glass filled with sands and little treasures.

It was then time for the main event! The Sunday Roast. It’s worth mentioning that this is served from 12.15pm until sold out every Sunday but there is also a full a la carte menu which also sounded incredible with dishes such as Slow cooked Pork Belly, Fish & Chips and Chicken Supreme. We both went for the Roast Beef Rump which was served with roast potatoes, honey glazed root veg, a Yorkshire pudding and the most delicious gravy. We also ordered a side of creamy mash potato. Sides of Cauliflower Cheese and Seasonal Greens could be ordered but let me tell you there was already enough food on the plate.

The Roasts are £14.95 and honestly I couldn’t fault it. There was nothing left on either of our plates and we left with very full tummys. The beef was cooked to perfection and as mentioned the gravy was delicious. You honestly can’t go wrong with honey glazed carrots and parsnips and these were delicious. The portion was pretty big but of course, we managed to eat it all. As i said, you really couldn’t fault any of the meal, it was delicious. The only thing I’d say is that I’d probably pass on ordering the mash potato. The meal is filling enough without it and it wasn’t anything too special.

They’ve really done an excellent job to say the Sunday Roasts have only just launched. The meal was bang on and I’m looking forward to hopefully going back there soon. I’d also love to go back and try the food on their a la carte menu as all of that sounded delicious too!

Have you been to Impossible in York?

XOXO
