Sunday Roast Diaries: Hare & Hounds, Bath

The Sunday Roast Diaries has really gone on tour! Over the Bank Holiday, Stefan and I  headed down South for a few days for my Birthday. I’ll be doing lot’s of blog posts on our travels but our first stop along the way was in the city of Bath. After a little bit of research, I booked a place called the Hare & Hounds which is on the outskirts of Bath on Landsdown Road. It was North (ish) of the city so it was perfect for us driving down. On arrival, I could tell this place would be good. Even bang on 12pm, this place was bustling!

The Hare & Hounds had a huge outdoor area with a G&T bar that overlooked a stunning valley. We did opt to sit inside but we still had lovely views out the window. I’d had the table booked a couple of weeks but I’d say booking is highly recommended as it was just so busy! After ordering drinks, it was time to deliberate the Sunday menu. They actually have a huge menu which isn’t limited to Roasts and have a wide selection of appetizers, sharing boards and mains including burgers and fish & chips.

For the Sunday Roasts, there was an option for Roast Sirloin of Beef, Roast Breast of Chicken, Slow Roasted Pork Belly or a Vegan Nut Roast. We actually opted for the sharer board for 2 people or more which included the three types of meat and a selection of all the trimmings. The singular roasts vary between £17.50 & £18.50 but the sharer was £20 per person which wasn’t bad considering how much meat you got. We also opted to get a side of Cauliflower Cheese for £4.

As you can see from the photos, it was quite a large portion on the sharer boards where we could help ourselves onto our own plates. There was more than enough food for us. I’m not usually a huge pork eater but we both agreed that this was the standout for the lunch for us. It was cooked to perfection! I was also a huge fan of the roast potatoes which were so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the side. I also really loved the Cauliflower Cheese which we ordered as an extra. As we both don’t really eat swede, we would’ve liked to have seen Mash as an option but it wasn’t the end of the world.

On a whole, this was really up there with one of the best roasts we’ve had in a long time. I’d certainly go as far as saying that it’s in my all-time Top 5 of Roast Dinners. If you are in the Bath area, you do need to try this place out. Not only was the sharing Roast amazing, but the pub itself was also great. The outdoor area would be great on a Summer’s day with beautiful views. I’m so glad we found this place, Keep your eyes peeled for a few new Sunday Roast Diaries posts coming your way!

XOXO
