Protecting my skin in the Floridian Sun
As you might have seen on my social media, I have just returned from two weeks in Orlando, Florida. Otherwise known as The Sunshine State. Let me tell you, although it’s known as the Sunshine State, the weather is crazy. We witnessed probably about 6 or 7 storms in the 2 weeks we were there. Never the less, the most important thing to consider is protecting your skin in this weather. Some days it was nearly 35 degrees! As you can imagine it’s super sweaty and so humid but we always made sure our skin was protected as much as possible with sunscreen.
When it comes to sun protection, my go to brand is La Roche Posay. Whilst in Florida, I used the La Roche-Posay Anthelios range including the invisible fresh misting anti-shine spray and the original Athelios ultimate protection SPF. I’ve picked these both up in SPF 50 for maximum protection and one of the reasons I love these products is that they are completely invisible. They leave no white marks, they aren’t sticky and they provide the highest protection without leaving a trace.
The La Roche-Posay Anthelios invisible fluid is the brands ultimate protection product. The consistency is more of a milk yet it applies really nicely without leaving any white marks. It claims to be water and sweat resistant which is reassuring when in the Floridian heat. However, I did re-apply a lot more whilst in Water Parks or in our hotel pool just to be on the safe side. The product is also non-perfumed so if you are fussy this could be for you!
As i mentioned, the consistency of the product is super lightweight, it’s very similar to a milk. I was slightly concerned that as it’s not like a lotion it wouldn’t be as effective but it sure was! The product is just super different to anything else on the market and I was really impressed.
We also used the La Roche Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine invisible fresh mist. I used this primarily on the face and I’ve got to say it’s one of my favourite products right now. You can use this with make-up and everything will stay into place whilst keeping protected from the sun. I did wear a little bit of make-up during the holiday but with the heat, it was sometimes too much. However this is the perfect SPF to use with make-up as it’s anti-shine and keeps everything in place. Best of all, with it been an invisible misting spray, it is unbelievable easy to apply. You can just mist over your face in seconds and you are done. This really is a firm favourite of mine.
