The Wedding Diaries #8: Bridesmaids Weekend

I’ve said this time again; it’s about time I get a move on with posting these Wedding Diaries blogposts. Our wedding will have been and gone before long!

Let’s rewind to the start of the year (I know, I’m that far behind) when I hosted a bridesmaids’ weekend. I wanted a weekend where I got my four bridesmaids together and hosted a little get-together. It was a great opportunity for them to get to know one another, as we’re not all from one friendship group. It was also just great to have a weekend where we could just get all excited, have some fun and also try on a few potential bridesmaid dresses.

The Wedding Diaries #8: Bridesmaids Weekend

I won’t dwell on the fact that I had a whole gorgeous set up in my conservatory with all the dresses on a rail, serving dishes laid out ready for snacks. It all just looked perfect. However, when I woke up on the Saturday morning, I noticed that my ceiling was about to fall down. Literally. So I spent the whole morning moving everything out and making a makeshift dressing area in my spare room, along with everything else getting shoved in my kitchen.

My ceiling did completely fall down three days later!!!

Thankfully, it didn’t put a damper on Bridesmaid weekend, and we still had the most fun! We started with a gorgeous brunch with pastries and fruit, followed by some delicious bakes by Jack at Bellflower Bakes. You need to get to know Bellflower Bakes, as he also does postal bakes. Let me tell you, the girls still talk about how good the cookies were; they were unbelievable. We also got Mint Aero Brownies, which is a favourite combo of mine. I can’t wait to order lots of bakes after the wedding and do some guilt-free indulging.

I won’t share too much of the bridesmaids’ dresses, but I thought the weekend would be a great time to buy in a few dresses in different sizes to try on. In total, I had around 20-25 dresses for everyone to try on. It gave them a chance to get a feel for what style they’d like to wear.

For those looking for bridesmaids’ dresses, Azazie has been a favourite of mine as there are so many styles. Every Thursday they do a £9.90 sample dress sale. They are non-returnable, but I ended up picking up six dresses; two of them we are using! It worked out cheaper than buying one full price!

Pretty Lavish, Omnes, Six Stories and TFNC were all stores I got some of the other dresses from and an excellent selection.

I definitely recommend hosting a little day like this if you are getting married, just for the dress trying on. It was such fun! A warning that it was a lot of admin for the dresses, which had to be returned. But, totally worth it!

This was the first time all my bridesmaids had been together since being asked, so I also put them together a little gift bag with a few cute bits. I’d ordered some tags with some photos of us together. This was before I acquired my Cricut and printer, as we know I’d have DIY’d it all myself at this point. I also had their personalised hangers made, which I’m glad that was something I’d got sorted so far in advance before the wedding, and they could use them for their dress try-on too! It went down very well.

Finally, Bridesmaid weekend was rounded off with a Chinese takeaway and a movie night. Perfect end to a lovely weekend with my Bridesmaids!

It’s so lovely to have all these special moments in the lead-up to the wedding documented. The countdown is now officially on though…
