York Restaurant Week Menu at Tomahawk Steakhouse
York Restaurant Week is currently taking place between the dates of 7th-13th March 2022. Last night, we drove over to try out a three course meal at Tomahawk.During York Restaurant Week there is lot’s of great offers on at local Bars, Restaurants and Cafes. You can find a full list of which eateries are taking place on the York Restaurant Week website but there’s a lot of firm favourites including Kennedy’s, Fancy Hanks, Lucia’s, Impossible & the Forest restaurant. We decided to try out the Tomahawk Steakhouse offering which was 3 courses for £19.95. I’ve previously visited to try their Sunday Roast Sharing Board around 18 months ago which was pretty impressive.

Tomahawk Steakhouse is located just off St.Helens Square down by Lendal Cellars. The restaurant is actually huge inside, it seems to go on forever! For York Restaurant Week they are offering 3 courses for £19.95. This applies between 12-9pm Mon to Thurs, 12-5pm on Friday and 12-3pm on Saturday. Personally, I think this was a great deal as within the three course included a flattened rump steak. I’ve included an image of the special three course menu but they were also serving their regular menu too. The regular menu included a sharing board for two which included 10oz flat iron, 4oz fillet, 6oz sirloin and 5oz rib eye for £59.95 with a choice of 4 sides. I think we may be tempted to come back and do this sharer too!
On this occasion, we were obviously there for the York Restaurant Week menu. Once we were seated, I ordered a G&T (Edinburgh Raspberry Gin) and their range of Gin, Wines and Cocktails were pretty extensive. To start with, we had the option of Soup, Goats Cheese Salad, Crispy Squid or Hash Cake. We both went for the Hash Cake which was a big homemade Hash brown ball with cheese and beef brisket. It was served with a blue cheese and mushroom sauce. Stefan had it without the sauce as he’s not a fan of blue cheese but personally, I didn’t find it very cheesy. The whole dish was amazing though. I loved the sauce and the brisket. You can order these hash brown and brisket balls normally on the side menu (without the sauce). I’d certainly get them again!

We obviously both went for the 8oz flattened rump steak for our main course. There was also a fishcake, pork chops and leg of lamb on the three course offer. We both exchanged our fries for beef dripping chips for an extra 50p and they didn’t disappoint. Along with our Rump Steak we also got a side of Glazed Mac and Cheese and Beer Battered Onion Rings. The Mac and Cheese wasn’t anything special but the onion rings were incredible – we even fought over the last one! The Rump steak was cooked medium to well and we also got a Béarnaise Sauce and Garlic Herb Butter. There certainly was enough food, the portions without all the sides were pretty big anyway.

After our main course, we were well and truly stuffed but don’t worry – we just about managed the dessert. Stefan opted for the Strawberry Ice Cream and I got the Winter Fruits Eton Mess. They were both quite small portions served in glasses but I’m quite glad as I don’t think I could’ve managed anything else!

Even though we did get a few sides and extras, the 3 courses for £19.95 is super great value and I’m glad we book to give it a go. The steak was unbelievably delicious and I can image all the meat there is super high quality. I definitely want to go back again as their menu is huge and have so many yummy sounding dishes. The service was a little slow in parts, we waited a while for our starter and had to ask for more drinks twice. However, it was a really busy so I can appreciate that they were all rushed off their feet. I’m not sure if they’ll have many tables available for the rest of York Restaurant Week but it’s worth checking out either way! There’s also quite a few other Tomahawk restaurants in the north and even one in London!
Have you visited a Tomahawk Restaurant before? Are you dining out during York Restaurant Week?
XOXO

Oh wow, what a great deal, and the food looks incredible too. I’ve not heard of restaurant week in York before, but it may have something to do with me not being local haha. It seems like a great time to visit though and I’m definitely adding Tomahawk Steakhouse to the list of places to go xx
