Sunday Roast Diaries: Feversham Arms Hotel, Helmsley
I’m back with another Sunday Roast Diaries post! Given that every Sunday, we have been eating out and searching for amazing Roast Dinners, we should have a lot of content coming up. Last Sunday, I was kindly invited to visit the Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley and try out their 3 course Sunday Lunch Menu. Helmsley isn’t too far from me, about 30 minutes and it’s such a beautiful market town which we should really visit more often!
The Feversham Arms Hotel is just located around the corner from the main square in Helmsley. We parked in the underground car park before making our way to the restaurant. The hotel actually has an on-site spa but a lot of the treatments and facilities are currently reduced. I have to say even though it was drizzling outside, the outdoor swimming pool looked ever so inviting. We’re actually going to be staying at the hotel in October so I can’t wait to take a dip then!

The Weathervane is the hotel’s restaurant serving locally sourced produce. We were trying out the three-course Sunday Lunch menu which is £35 for the three courses or £25 for two courses. I was particularly excited about the main course as I’d heard amazing things about Roast Beef. To start things off we were served some freshly baked warm bread accompanied by regular butter and also marmite butter. The bread was a lovely treat before getting into our starter – Everything is better with freshly baked bread, right?

For starters, I went for the Tomato and Buratta dish and Stefan got the Sea Trout and White Crab. I’m not much of a starter person but I really enjoyed it. I think it was also Stefan’s first time trying crab and he only had good things to say about his starter. Both dishes were presented superbly, they almost looked too good to eat!

On to the main event! Both of us ordered the Beef Sunday Roast although there was Cod and Chestnut Mushrooms also available. The Roast Sirlion was served pink with a Yorkshire Pudding, Carrots and Roast Potatoes. We also had two dishes with variety of greens and cauliflower cheese. To be honest, I’m not really sure what was in the greens but it was seasoned beautifully and tasted amazing. The Beef tasted incredible and paired with the gravy was just to die for. The roasties were a highlight as they were so light and fluffy. Overall, we were really impressed with our Sunday Roast, it’s actually up there with one of the best we’ve had!

We somehow found room for a dessert as they all sounded too lovely to pass. Stefan went for the Mango, Passionfruit and Lime Pavlova and I got the Chocolate, Cherry and Pistachio dessert. I don’t usually go for a nutty dessert but I’m so glad I did. The Chocolate mousse mixed with the sorbet was a great combination especially adding in the pistachio. Stefan was a big fan of his dessert and it was quickly wolfed down!
We had such a lovely experience at the Feversham Arms and the Sunday Roast was absolutely amazing. It would make a lovely place for a special occasion or just treating yourself to an excellent foodie experience. I’m already very much looking forward to returning in a few months time to hopefully take a dip in their outdoor swimming pool!
XOXO
