5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Outdoor Space

At the moment, I’m currently looking at buying my first house so interior (or in this case exterior) design is becoming a new interest of mine. I’m forever looking at the potential of different houses and decorating. My new found obsession on Instagram is now outdoor landscaping and transforming outdoor spaces. There is so much you can do to spruce up even the smallest of gardens or courtyards.

Although I would prefer to have a small garden when we buy our first home, there is so much you can do even with a courtyard space. Artificial grass can be an option for some spaces and there are lots of cheap artificial grass options. It’s surprising how much adding a big of greenery can make a space look bigger. The best thing about artificial grass is that it’s super low maintenance as you don’t even have to maintain it or mow the lawn!

One of the simplest things you can add to your outdoor space is some hanging baskets. This can be done really affordably from your local garden centre. If you aren’t much of a gardener, this is a great option. It doesn’t take too much effort and you can really bring your garden to life with some colourful plants. Another option for sprucing up your outdoor space is adding a few plant pots. Again, if you’re not much of a gardener and don’t want the responsibility of a flower bed, popping some plants in pots might be a good option! There are so many cute ones on the high street at the moment. I’m desperate to get my hands on these, they are so cute!

fresh coat of paint can do wonders on your outdoor space. Whether you are giving your fence a makeover or just adding a bit of colour to new plant pots. It’s crazy how much a lick of paint can really make a space look fresher and looked after. Whether you have just got a new fence from somewhere like First State Building and Design (who you can click here to discover more about), or are looking to spruce up an old one that you’ve had for years, painting your fence can be a long and laborious job given that it’ll probably need a few coats but the results will be worth it. Painting plant pots or planters can be a fun little DIY! If you’ve got some plain terracotta pots, this is the time to get creative and spice them up with a fresh design.

Lastly, pieces of furniture can really make all the difference. I could talk through all the different options from a corner rattan sofa, sun loungers or even an egg chair can really spruce up an outdoor space. Ideally, I’d love to have a corner sofa and a firepit but it all depends on the size of a space. Adding some furniture can really make the space cosy and perfect for dining alfresco or just having an outdoor space to chill in summer. You can find pieces to fit all budgets!

Have you been inspired to get creative in your garden?

xoxo
