A couple of weeks ago, I visited Germany for the first time. Cologne, to be exact and you can read more about what I got up to around the city here. I was actually in Cologne for the Essence Bloggers’ Beauty Secrets Event. Hayley had invited me along to celebrate the Bloggers’ Beauty Secrets collection becoming part of the permanent cosmetics line. She had won the trip in conjunction with Mary from Strike a Pose.
The event was held at the Art’otel in Cologne, right by the Rhine River. It was such a lovely hotel. Once we had checked-in to the room and freshened up we headed for welcome drinks and then to hear all about the collection. The Bloggers’ Beauty Secrets collection was created by four bloggers; Mary, Diana, Serena and Palmira. We started off chatting with Mary, who was representing the British Bloggers with her palette. All of the palettes were gorgeous and so different. We got to speak to everyone and learn their inspiration about their creations. I’ll share a few photo’s of that palettes and products but I’m going to be doing an in-depth review of the whole collection, complete with nail polishes!
I’d actually been awake the night before as I stayed in the airport, our flight was mega early. So it was time to have a quick power nap before dolling myself up for food. It turned out we were having a BBQ on the hotel’s terrace right by the river. It was such a beautiful setting and the food was amazing. For dessert, they set up the most incredible ice cream station with all sorts of sweeties and sprinkles. If you’ve read my review of the Fergus Resort in Mallorca – You’ll know how much I love a good sprinkle station.
Although the food was quite the highlight of the trip, our next activity had been kept a surprise. We soon learnt that we were going to create and make our own palettes. Well, I was in my element! There was so many different shades to choose from to insert in our little palettes. I decided I wanted to make mine as sparkly as possible and opted for a few shimmer shadows and cream highlighters. The silver glitter eyeshadow is everything.
We had been advised to wear neon and white which all become clear when it was time to party. It turned out to be a neon party! After surviving on one hours sleep in the past 36 hours, I wasn’t doing too badly. I was still partying with all the girls, dancing to some old school tunes at 1am! We had (several) go’s in the photo booth, because who doesn’t love a photo booth? Eventually, It was time to hit the hay before heading out for two days of exploring Cologne.
