Unmissable Things To Do In Belfast
Whilst it’s a plane ride away to Belfast, it’s so unbelievably easy to get there. We headed to Northern Ireland in March and our flight to Belfast was so quick, smooth and it’s got to be the quickest exit from an airport we have ever had. The ease of travel makes Belfast a great city break for a weekend or a few days. There is so much to see, visit and do whilst you are visiting the capital of Northern Ireland. Here are some of the top destinations to explore in this great city.

Titanic Belfast
One of the most iconic landmarks in Belfast is the Titanic Belfast, an interactive museum dedicated to the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Located in the former shipyard where the Titanic was built, this award-winning attraction offers a captivating journey through the ship’s history, from its construction to its tragic sinking. The museum’s architecture alone is a sight to behold, resembling the Titanic’s bow.

cathedral quarter
To experience Belfast’s vibrant cultural scene, head to the Cathedral Quarter. This bustling neighbourhood is home to numerous art galleries, theatres, and music venues. Stroll through the cobbled streets adorned with colourful street art, and enjoy live music performances in the many pubs and bars that line the area. You can find What’s on in Belfast with Skiddle where there’s events on such as live music, festivals, themed brunches and comedy evenings.
Crumlin Road Gaol
For history enthusiasts, a visit to the Crumlin Road Gaol is a must. This Victorian-era prison, which operated for over 150 years, is now a museum that offers guided tours, providing a fascinating insight into Belfast’s troubled past. Walk through the eerie cells, hear stories of its inmates, and learn about the prison’s role in the city’s history.

Belfast Castle
No visit to Belfast would be complete without exploring the stunning natural landscapes that surround the city. Just a short drive away, you’ll find the picturesque Belfast Castle and Cave Hill Country Park. Take a leisurely walk through the park’s woodlands and enjoy panoramic views of the city from the hilltop.

The Giant’s Causeway
Another natural gem near Belfast is the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located along the stunning Antrim Coast. It’s over an hour’s drive from Belfast but it’s well worth the trip. We visited in March and our top tip if you’re looking to save some money is to park in the Causeway Coast Way Car Park instead of the main car park. This way you’ll only have to pay one fee for parking instead of around £13.50pp in the Visitor Centre. The walk from the car park was only around 10 minutes to the point where you can either catch a bus or walk down to the Causeway.
The Giant’s Causeway is pretty impressive and a geological wonder. Take a stroll along the cliff-top trails, marvel at the unique rock formations, and learn about the fascinating legends that surround this extraordinary place. Whilst you are in the area it’s also worth visiting Bushmills Distillery if you’re into Whisky. It’s the oldest Whisky Distillery in the world.
St. George’s Market
For those seeking a taste of Belfast’s local flavour, a visit to St. George’s Market is a must. This historic market, which dates back to the 19th century, is a bustling hub of food, crafts, and live music. Sample delicious local produce, browse through the artisanal crafts, and soak up the lively atmosphere of this beloved market.
Lastly, make sure to explore Belfast’s vibrant food and drink scene. From traditional Irish pubs serving hearty dishes to trendy restaurants offering innovative cuisine, the city has something to suit every taste. Indulge in a traditional Ulster fry for breakfast, sample some freshly caught seafood, or savour a pint of Guinness in a cozy pub.
Belfast truly has a wealth of must-visit places, each offering a unique glimpse into the city’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you’re fascinated by history, art, nature, or simply enjoy exploring vibrant cities, Belfast is sure to leave a lasting impression and provide an unforgettable travel experience.
XOXO
