UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Lincoln

UK City Breaks I’d Love To Visit in 2024

Whilst I have lots of exciting travel plans abroad for 2024, I do also want to explore more cities in the UK. I’m fortunate to have visited so many parts of the UK already and I especially love finding some local foodie favourites. 2024 is already pretty jam packed but I’m hoping to plan some weekend city breaks in the UK and I thought I would share some of my top spots and why I’m wanting to visit them.

Spoiler Alert: 9 times out of 10 the reason will always be food.

UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Lincoln

Lincoln

Lincoln is a place I’ve actually only visited once back in 2021 with my friend Jess. I was so pleasantly surprised about Lincoln, it’s a gorgeous city, gorgeous architecture, full of history and a pretty good nightlife. It certainly reminded me of York with the cathedral, the River Witham running through the city, medieval buildings and cobbled streets. We are heading to a wedding in Lincolnshire later this year so a visit into the city is definitely on the cards.

My top foodie picks (because we all know I have them) would be Olé Olé Tapas Bar & Restaurant and Carousel Bar for fun cocktails and arcade games!

UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Liverpool

Liverpool

I’ve also only been to Liverpool a hand full of days. Possibly only twice. I’m actually shocked as we have a direct train route from my hometown albeit a 3+ hour journey it’s worth the trip. Liverpool is obviously the home to The Beatles and its musical heritage echoes through the vibrant streets and legendary venues like the Cavern Club. One major reason why visiting Liverpool in 2024 is a good idea, Taylor Swift will be bringing her Era’s Tour to Anfield in June – That’s if you have tickets though!

Liverpool is a city on this list which I will definitely be visiting as I’m going on a Hen Do there later this year. Along with the musical, football and maritime links, it really is well known for the great nightlife. Attracting Hen & Stag dos, there is so many activities such as crazy golf, bongos bingo, the Bierkeller, themed brunches, axe throwing and much more.

UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Glasgow

Glasgow

Glasgow in my opinion, is so underrated. I think it’s such a wonderful Scottish city with amazing vibes. Again, I’ve only visited a few times but it’s one which I would love to explore further and really delve into what the city has to offer. On previous trips, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and West End district were highlights. I think there is some gorgeous areas of the city and so much to do and see. You could spend much more than a weekend in Glasgow. It also makes the ideal starting point for a Scottish Road Trip like we did as Loch Lomond is less than an hours drive away!

I’d love to explore the foodie scene in Glasgow but for now, my top picks from previous trips have been getting incredible burgers from Bread Meats Bread and one of the best pizza’s I’ve had in the UK from Paesano Pizza.

UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Oxford

Oxford

Oxford is just an utterly stunning city. Whilst it’s obviously well known for it’s world renowned university, there is so much more to Oxford than just that! The architecture is just out of this world including the Radcliffe Camera and The Bodleian Library. One reason i’m keen to visit Oxford is to stay at the Malmaison Hotel. It’s completely unique in that it used to be a prison! A lot of the prison features still remain and I think it looks incredible and would make for a very unique stay!

If you’re also a big Harry Potter fan like myself, there is some filming locations in Oxford worth seeking out. You may end up walking the halls of Hogwarts on your next trip to Oxford. The city is also not too far from The Cotswolds so this may be an option for a visit if we decide a countryside getaway with Walter before stopping off in Oxford.

UK City Breaks I'd Love To Visit in 2024 - Chester

Chester

Chester is another charming city with gorgeous architecture and cobbled streets. I think at this point, I have a type of city I want to visit this year? I visited Chester for my Birthday quite a few years ago and loved it. Especially my day at Chester Zoo which is a real must visit when you are in the area. One of the main reasons I’ve been sucked into a potential weekend in Chester is seeing all the delicious foodie spots popping up on my TikTok FYP. Brewski is firmly on the list along with Death by Tacos and the majority of the vendors at Chester Market.

Is there any cities on this list that you’d like to visit? What UK cities would you like to visit in 2024?

XOXO
