If you’re looking to head out on a city break, then there are plenty of good reasons to plan one in the UK. The chances are good that you haven’t been to every city worth visiting in the country, and even if you have, there are still worthwhile experiences that might be had during a return visit.

Edinburgh
Edinburgh is actually a little on the small side, relatively speaking. That’s a good thing, however, as it means that all of the famous historical sites, like the Castle and the Scottish National Galleries, are within walking distance of one another. Make the time to spend a few hours pottering around Old Town; you’re sure to find boutique shops, bars and restaurants that make the exercise worthwhile.
Liverpool
Take the train down from Edinburgh to Liverpool, and you’ll find another vibrant cultural centre. If you’re a fan of the Beatles, then you could easily spend several weekends devouring fab-four-related experiences. But there’s more to the city than this one monumental band. Take a stroll around the waterfront, and marvel at the Royal Albert Dock and the surrounding bevvy of small shops, museums and restaurants. If you’re a football fan, you might also take time to enjoy a stadium tour at Anfield or Goodison Park.
Manchester
Not too far from Liverpool we find its major rival for tourist traffic in the North West. Manchester is a former industrial powerhouse, with historic buildings once reserved for manufacturing now being used instead for creativity and great food, too. There’s a pair of football grounds in this city, too, as well as a wealth of parks, museums, galleries, bars and restaurants. You might go and learn to ski at the Chill Factore, check out the animals at the nearby Chester Zoo, or go on a sightseeing tour of the city.
London
London is a location that most British people have visited more than once – but the fact is that there’s so much on offer in the capital that you could spend years here without fully exploring everything worth seeing and doing. You might catch a show in the West End, or take a spin around the famous London Eye. You might treat yourself to a guided tour through the palace of Westminster, or a look around Kew Gardens. Whatever the occasion, and whenever you’re visiting, it’s likely that there’s something spectacular going on nearby. So, why not check it out?
