Before the start of this year, I had never really been to spa. You could now say that I’ve officially caught the bug. When looking at spa’s in Yorkshire, there is one which I’ve seen so many people rave about and that is Rudding Park. Not only is Rudding Park a gorgeous hotel with two golf courses, an ideal location for a wedding and two restaurants but they have a gorgeous destination Spa.
Rudding Park is located in Follifoot just between Harrogate and Knaresborough. My Mum and I caught the train from York and spent a couple of hours in Harrogate. After a lovely lunch, we got a taxi to Rudding Park. If I remember correctly it was around £10 each way. The hotel is just absolutely beautiful; it’s definitely on my radar for a stay in early 2020. The hotel staff were so helpful escorted us to the spa.
We were booked in for the Afternoon Session at the Rooftop spa which was between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. First of all, we had a tour and were shown the rooftop, changing areas and the swimming pool. The spa is set out across three floors with the pinnacle being the incredible rooftop facilities and lovely outdoor area. Once we got changed into our swimming costumes and big white fluffy robes, it was time to explore the spa.
The first stop was the outdoor infinity pool which had a range of different power jets and was just a lovely place to chill. The spa had your standard Sauna and Steam Rooms but there were few things which really stood out for me. First of all was the Oxygen pod which I’d heard a lot about online. The pure air and mineral salt is supposed to do wonders for the skin and also strengthen the immune system. I haven’t taken many photos from the pools & rooms as it was quite busy and I wanted respect people’s privacy.
Another really fascinating and new addition to the Spa is the Sunlight Therapy Room. This is perfect for those who suffer when the seasons change and it’s supposed to help reduce the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The Sunlight Therapy Room makes you feel like you are laid out on a beach with the sun beaming down on you whilst being completely safe and removing all UV Rays. It’s a great area to chill out for 20 minutes; although it’s very popular and finding an available seat is hard to come by.
It’s incredible to believe that in October, we were chilling out in the Rooftop Gardens in our robes. The weather was so pleasant for our visit so we were really lucky. In the Rooftop Gardens you’ve also got a sauna with a view, a lovely heated seating area to enjoy a few drinks and a Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi and the power jets did wonders for my aching back and I think I could have stayed in there a lot longer than the recommended time!
When we arrived, we actually signed up for a workshop. In the treatment area, they predominantly use the brand Elemis and we were going to use the products for a DIY facial workshop. I’m obviously a big fan of skincare and I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out some different products. The lovely lady who was hosting the workshop talked us through everything and was so knowledgeable. I actually learnt so much about how to apply skincare products in a way which will protect and hopefully fight against aging. One of the top tips been to be conscious of how you are applying products. Do not to drag it down but to use upward motions to keep the face uplifted.
I’ve not really used Elemis products before, but the Pro-Collegan Cleansing Balm was amazing along with the Elemis Marine Cream. I really enjoyed the little workshop and came away feeling like I had learnt quite a lot. After the workshop, we popped into the restaurant for our complimentary snacks and drinks before going back to the rooftop. It’s such a beautiful place to relax and before we knew it, it was sadly time to leave. We were at the Spa for about three hours but I would probably recommend longer as it’s got so many fantastic facilities.
I was thoroughlly impressed with Rudding Park Spa and particularly loved the unique therapy rooms. I certainly will be back, I’m also desperate to stay in the hotel as it was just beautiful. Hopefully early next year, we will book a little weekend away!
Have you been to Rudding Park before?
