Rachel’s USA Trip: My New Orleans, Memphis & Nashville Wishlist

I’m very lucky to be travelling to some incredible destinations on my trip to America and Canada. It’s now less than 50 days until I fly off to the states and I thought I would do another wish list styled post for my USA trip. My other post was about places I’d love to visit in Florida, check that out here. I’ve finally booked my flights out to New York which is my first stop before heading on the Southern BLT tour with Trek America. One of the main reasons for choosing this trek was that it included Nashville, Memphis & New Orleans (alongside some other incredible cities).

New Orleans

New Orleans has been at the top of my travel wish list for a long time. I’ve spent many evenings daydreaming about visiting and pricing up different New Orleans Hotels. I’m a little sad that I’ll be only spending one night here but it’s actually Halloween weekend and I’ve heard there’s going to be a lot going on. It’ll be on top of everyone’s list when visiting New Orleans to head to the French Quarter and visit some jazz clubs. I’m not going to lie, I do have a vision of what it’s going to be like in my head and I really hope it lives up to my expectations.

There’s a few excursions and tours that have caught my eye. A Voodoo and Graveyard tour isn’t something I would usually want to do but I’m very intrigued. It is the Halloween weekend too! I’d also absolutely love to go on a Mississippi Steam Boat ride. I’ve recently just seen Milly’s blogpost about places to eat in New Orleans and it’s got me drooling. It seems that Café de Monde is the place to be!

Memphis

I probably sound like a broken record by now saying I’m so excited to visit [Insert American City here]. This really is my dream trip and I’m able to tick off some proper bucket list items such as visiting Graceland. It would be wrong to visit Memphis as an Elvis fan and not visit Graceland. I know Haydy is visiting a couple of weeks before me and she shares my excitement!

High on my list is to visit the Sun Studio where Elvis and Johnny Cash recorded albums. The entrance fee isn’t too expensive at $15, not bad considering it’s one of the most famous recording studios in the world. Hopefully, I’ll have time to squeeze a visit into a very well-known hotel in Memphis; The Peabody Hotel. I’ve heard the rooftop bar is pretty amazing but they even have their own ducks in the lobby!

Nashville

I’m actually secretly a really big fan of country music and visiting Nashville is just filling with even more excitement. Nashville really is the home of country music and I’m so excited to see some live music. Visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is high up on my list, at the moment there’s even a Shania Twain exhibition which I’m kind of a little bit excited to see. She’s a guilty pleasure of mine.

As food is always on my mind, I’ve obviously been looking at the best places to go. Hattie B’s for hot fried chicken seems like the place to be and there are some amazing looking Brunch spots. I was also checking out a few hotels around Nashville and the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is one of the biggest hotels in America. The resort has so much to do and would be worth checking out for its dining and shopping options!

Have you been to any of these cities? As always, any recommendations for these destinations would be really appreciated. Apologies for using the phrase “I’m so excited” about 15643 times in this post but I think I could really burst with delight about my USA Trip.

XOXO
