Summer Beauty Trends for Festivals

June 18, 2017

Festival season has kicked off and with Glastonbury and many more just around the corner, I’m looking at my favourite beauty trends for this Summer. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Radio 1’s Big Weekend and I went all out with the glitter. Festivals are a great place to experiment with beauty and create looks you wouldn’t usually wear on a daily basis. I do, however, wish you could get away with wearing glitter everywhere. recently got in touch with me to go over my favourite Music Festival Trends for this Summer.

Glitter, Glitter & more Glitter…

We all know I love a lot of glitter. I certainly took advantage of this at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, I wanted to go all out with glitter in my hair and on my face. When applying glitter to the face, I used a gentle glue which came with the set but I also found that vaseline helped with the application. Take your time when you’re piling on the glitter and don’t go too overboard as it can start to look like a disaster. If you are putting glitter in your hair, I would recommend using a glitter gel. This will stick better in your hair but make sure to even it all out. Once you are happy with all the glitter use a setting spray or hair spray to keep everything in place.

Glowy Dewy Skin

Dewy Skin is a beauty trend that not only is perfect for festivals but looks great throughout the Summer. Creating a natural and youthful glow is super easy with the right products. Sticking with liquid or cream products will be great for the dewy effect. I don’t know about you but I’m a massive fan of a poppin’ highlight to extenuate the cheekbones and give your skin the glow.

Bold Smokey Eyes

I’ve been seriously loving the use of electric blue on the eyes. I think this is such a bold and interesting look which would look amazing at a festival. Whether you are creating a smokey eye with shimmer shades or a statement cat eye with a bold eyeliner you are certainly going to stand out on the festival season.

Space Buns and Braids

When it comes to hairstyles perfect for festivals, the possibilities are endless. I’ve already touched on applying glitter to the hair which looks great running through the roots. I tried out the Space Bun trend at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. It’s such a simple look but you can add in some braids or glitter to make it a little more complex. There are also so many different types of braids that look amazing at a festival. Unfortunately, I can’t french braid myself otherwise I’d have my hair like that 24/7!

I always pile on the glitter on the last day of a festival. I can never be bothered to do more than apply a little bit of concealer, bronzer and mascara when I’m in a field surrounded by music, booze and friends but glitter, that I can do! Ha!

  2. You can’t go wrong with glitter at a festival. I tend to go for really bright or dark lips, something I wouldn’t wear at home unless it was a nice out. It seems everyone is going mental for fishnets this festival season as I’ve seen everyone in them x

  3. My mummy went to Funk the Family with space buns and glitter from GoGetGlitter with her mirror shades and looked on point. Great tips!

  4. I like the space buns – Princess Leila look. So cute and perfect for hot weather
