Travel: Walt Disney World, Florida – Part Six

February 19, 2016
Welcome back to my final diary styled post on my trip to Florida. I’ve really loved sharing all my photo’s and thoughts on what I go up to in the sunshine state. If you’re interested in reading my other posts on my holiday, here is Part OnePart TwoPart ThreePart Four and Part Five.

Day Fourteen – Mall at Millenia & Midnight in Magic Kingdom

The first stop of the day was a trip to the Mall at Millenia, we had previously visited the outlets and Florida Mall but I wanted to visit this Mall as it stocked more high-end brands as well as a Cheesecake Factory and an Ulta. It was a seriously beautiful mall and like I said there was Cheesecake Factory so we got a take out to eat back at the hotel. I’ve done a haul video which will be up soon so you can see what I picked up at the mall.

After a relaxing afternoon by the pool, we headed to Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks for a final time and also take advantage of the Disney extra magic hours. Before making our way to watch Wishes, we stopped by to meet a couple of Disney Princess’; Cinderella, Rapunzel and Ariel. Not forgetting Tinkerbell too. I don’t have too many photo’s of the evening as I forgot to bring an extra memory card – rookie error but it gave me a chance to fully enjoy my last evening in Magic Kingdom. We did however, get stuck on The People Mover in Tomorrowland – possibly the slowest ride ever and after 30 minutes we were escorted off the ride. If you do get the chance to stay late in Magic Kingdom it truly is lovely, there’s barely any ques and the castle it lit up so beautifully.

Day Fifteen – Final Day in Magic Kingdom & Cocktails at Downtown Disney

Although we were in Florida for 17 days we only had Disney passes for 14 days as buying a 21-day pass was a bit of a waste. So, this was our final day in Magic Kingdom, we spent the morning queuing for our favourite rides and one’s we had yet to go on such as Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Carribean which had been closed for a couple of months and re-opened on our last day! It was a magical final day topped off with seeing the Festival of Fantasy Parade (which is just excellent) and grabbing a Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream before heading out the gates.

We would have most likely spent the evening in Magic Kindom but it was closing early for the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party; you can read about my time at the part here in Part Four. I had managed to book into Planet Hollywood last minute in Downtown Disney so we headed over there in the evening for a pretty great meal. After a bit of shopping (mainly in the Christmas shop), we decided to check out Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar which had opened the night before and is a new addition as part of Downtown Disney’s re-brand as Disney Springs. There was a pretty great cocktail menu all influenced from places around the world, between the three of us we managed to try out a fair few different cocktails. It was a pretty cool bar too and we had a lovely outside table with lovely views of the resort over the lake.

Day Sixteen – Universal Studios

We decided to go back to Universal Studios on our last full day in Florida, you definitely need about three days to explore both Universal and Islands of Adventure. We did spend a lot of time in Harry Potter World but in the three days, we still missed out a couple of rides. My Mum and I decided to sport our matching Thing 1 & Mother of all Things t-shirt as typical tourists. The first ride we went on was the Minion 3D ride which had the biggest que on all three times we visited, it was a great little ride but definitely not worth the que.

I was forced into going on The Mummy Rollercoaster and hated it, definitely not one for me. Afterwards, we explored the New York area and saw the Blues Brother perform before taking our seats in the theatre for Beetle Juice’s Graveyard Revue, which I personally wouldn’t see again. We took one final ride on the Hogwarts Express taking us to Hogsmeade where I faced the second ride on Dragon Challenge – I felt very proud of myself for going on it! We explored Suess Landing before making our way back to Universal Studios for their parade. The parade was full on nickelodeon characters and I only really knew Spongebob! I sound so negative in this paragraph but I did love Universal; they are just a few things I wouldn’t do/see again.

On our way into the park, we booked a table in Bubba Gump for our evening meal. I am such a huge Forrest Gump fan, it’s one of my favourite movies and I love the Bubba Gump restaurants so it was inevitable we would end up here.

Day Seventeen – Farwell Florida

On our last day, it was a complete washout, whilst I was pretty sad to be leaving Florida the atrocious weather slightly softened the blow. We decided to do some last minute gift shopping in Downtown Disney and my Mum and I were hopping in between stores in our ponchos. It was then time to catch the Disney Magical Express to Orlando Airport and bid farewell to Florida. After spending so many years of my childhood wishing to go to Walt Disney World, this trip was a dream come true filled with magical memories and now I’m desperate to go back already! I think I’ve caught the Disney bug!

I’ve linked all my Disney vlogs above, I’d love it if you subscribed to my channel, there’s a few exciting videos coming up. I’m also planning a few other Florida posts but let me know down below if you would like to see anything specific!

Omg I want one of those Mickey balloons! I can never quite make my mind up if I want to go here or not, the photos always make it look amazing. I know my other half would want to go on every ride though and I hate them haha xx
