New York City – Day 1

I decided i would do a little photo diary/log thing on here. I just got back from the airport following one of the worst flights i’ve been on ever, I’m feeling pretty rough right now. So I last week i went to New York with my family and kind of for my 18th Birthday which is this Friday. I got to warn you these next couple of posts over the next week are quite photo heavy and wordy.

We flew from Manchester to JFK and it was just over 7 hours and it was a loong flight. The in-flight entertainment was OK, I watched The Lorax and a lot of American sitcom episodes. The food was kinda crap too. We arrived in New York at 1pm so we still had chance to do a few things in the city!
The first glimpse of the Empire State Building from the taxi was pretty exciting! We stopped at a Hotel near Tiffany’s called The Salisbury – it was really lovely with two walk in wardrobes and a kitchen. The only problem is that there was work going on outside the hotel all through the night – I wouldn’t have minded the sirens but this was builders drilling. It was still a really lovely hotel.
First stop off was Tiffany’s which was a gorgeous store, exactly like in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. We looked around the sterling silver area for potential Birthday presents but i couldn’t decide so we continued to go down 5th avenue; Stopping in Henri Bendels, Michael Kors and Abercrombie & Fitch.

A couple of months ago we purchased the New York Pass for about £120 which is a card which entitles you entry to loads of attractions in NY including Madame Tussauds. I love going in here because i act like i’m fully meeting these people. The photos i took have come out horrendous, all the waxworks look rubbish!
In Madame Tussauds there was a little TV section where you could act like your a news reporter!
For dinner we went to Hard Rock Cafe which is a huuge resturant inside and a great atmosphere, I ended up ordering Fish & Chips and ended up getting four huge fish pieces! It was yummy!
Times Square wasn’t what i was expecting, It was so much more bigger than i thought and it just wasn’t what i thought it would be. I really liked all the billboards and lights, Times Square was soo busy we didn’t up doing much.

  5. Ahh I'm so jealous. I went to NY back in 2010 and had the time of my life. I love the photo of you being a news reporter – I didn't get to go to Madame Tussauds but it looks amazing x
