For as long as I can remember, eating certain foods felt like playing a game of Russian roulette with my body. I’ve always been the one who’s complaining about my tummy aching. I’ve had somewhat of an idea what my triggers were but never sought out help. So when YorkTest got in touch to collaborate, I jumped at the chance. YorkTest offer a range of tests for food intolerances, allergies and additionally health tests.

The test I decided to try out was the Premium Food Intolerance Test which tests over 200 food and drink ingredients for intolerances. The test is an easy to use at home to laboratory kit. I had to take a simple finger-prick blood test and once I had collected my sample, I posted it off via royal mail.

The results were emailed across within seven days and they made for extremely interesting reading. I’ve added a screenshot of my top results below…

As you can see my top intolerances are Wheat, Gluten and Cow’s Milk. Additionally, Sesame Seeds are a borderline intolerance. Wheat, Gluten and Cow’s Milk are obviously main ingredients in a lot of things which would explain how I’ve been feeling so lousy for a long time. YorkTest recommend any foods with high reactivity, I should try and eliminate them completely from my diet. As you can imagine, this will be a huge change to my diet.

I had previously thought I had issues with dairy so the Cow’s Milk revelation didn’t come as much of a shock. However it’s reactivity isn’t as high as I’d have thought but results can be effected if I had already excluded certain things from my diet. I do already drink oat milk on the most part and try and avoid a lot of diary. I’m glad I’ve got it confirmed now.

Cutting out Wheat and Gluten is going to be a little more complex. I’m going to have to be really mindful when eating out and doing our shopping. Bread, pasta, cereals and flour are just a few things that could effect me. Along with the test, it included a 30 minute consultation with a nutritional therapist. I’m yet to arrange this but i can imagine this could be a huge help with assessing my diet.

I’m sure this won’t be the last you hear about this considering food is such a big part of my life. YorkTest currently have an amazing sale on all their products but you can also get an additional 5% off with the code: RN5

Have you ever done a food intolerance test?

XOXO
