Last weekend was a very exciting one. I had my first experience at the NFL London Games at Wembley. In fact, it was my first visit to Wembley Stadium and it was just an amazing day. I’ve wanted to go to NFL London games for such a long time but I’ve never got round to it. The game my Mum and I saw was the Houston Texans VS Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the final of four games this Autumn in London.
I was kindly invited to the big NFL game by National Express who is the official travel partner for Wembley Stadium. We had our travel to Wembley Stadium from Leeds booked through National Express and it was super easy. Leaving Leeds Bus Station at 8.20 am, we were at the Stadium just after Midday and we also had a stop off at Northampton Services. As National Express is the official partner they have services running from many major cities across the UK for most of the upcoming events at Wembley including England football matches and Westlife next summer!
Although it was quite a long journey, it was comfortable and super easy without having to faff with trains and tubes. As we got to the Stadium a couple of hours before the game started, we had the opportunity to check out the Tailgate (which you need a match ticket for entry) and it’s so worth getting there early and basking in the atmosphere. You’ll find the official NFL shop (with the longest queue), plenty of bars and food outlets as well as fan zones and sponsors giving out freebies.
Although I’ve been to an NFL game in San Francisco, this was my first time at the London Games. The atmosphere was amazing and it really was much more than a game – it was a spectacle. As I said, it was my first visit to Wembley and the stadium is pretty amazing. The one thing to consider before going to an NFL game is their clear bag policy. They are very strict on what you can take inside the stadium and prefer you don’t bring anything but if you do to have it in their official NFL clear bag. We just left our non-valuables on the coach which was really ideal for us.
We took our seats around 30 minutes before kick-off after browsing through the multitude of delicious-looking food stalls. I’m not going to lie, it was slightly on the pricey side but you aren’t at Wembley every day. Our seats were in a great position in the Bobby Moore stand behind the goal on the second tier. It was a great view to see all the pre-game entertainment. You’ve got so much going on the whole time, it’s such a great spectacle. As I mentioned the game was Houston Texans VS Jacksonville Jaguars. I was backing the Texans and to be honest, they completed dominated the game.
A massive thank you to National Express for inviting me. I had such an amazing time at the NFL London games. I was so happy the Houston Texans won! I definitely will go again next year and it’s so good to know that getting to the stadium can be made so easy by travelling with National Express.
Have you ever been to an NFL match? Have you travelled with National Express?
