Sunday Roast Diaries: The Ganton Arms, London
I’m finally back with the first Sunday Roast Diaries of 2023! It’s been a while since my last Sunday Roast Diaries blogpost which was from The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey. This was also my most expensive Roast to date. I’m hoping this year is full of delicious roast dinners! With us now having a puppy, we should hopefully be including more dog-friendly foodie places too! Today’s Sunday Roast Diaries post is from our visit to London just before Christmas and we visited The Ganton Arms.

The Ganton Arms is located just behind the famous Liberty London Department Store and off the main Carnaby Street strip. According to their website, it’s a brand new pub. However, I have no idea about this. I had randomly come across The Ganton Arms as I was looking for a Sunday Roast place. I have to admit I was a little last minute and a few of the big ones I wanted to try were fully booked.
On first impression, the exterior of The Ganton Arms looks like your typical pub yet once you get inside there is certainly a modern feel. At the time of us dining we did have the Christmas Sunday a la carte menu but upon looking at the current Sunday a la carte menu there isn’t many differences in the Sunday Roast section. However, their small plates/starters have changed since then. We actually dived straight into the Sunday Roast.

We both went for the 28 day aged Sirloin of beef which was served with a selection of veg including roast potatoes, carrots, mashed swede and savoy cabbage. The roast also came with a pretty impressive Yorkshire Pudding which certainly got the tick of approval from myself. The beef was also top notch and we got plenty of it. I’ve got to say this was a healthy portion but not too much; just right. The Beef Roast was £19.50 which is on the expensive side but I guess we do have to take into consideration we are smack bang in the middle of London.
We did also order a side of Pigs in Blankets and Stuffing for £6. The portion was three pigs in blankets and three round pieces of stuffing which I did find quite underwhelming. I wasn’t overly keen on the Stuffing and would’ve preferred more Pigs in Blankets (I mean I always prefer ALLLL the Pigs in Blankets). I would certainly say it wasn’t worth the £6 price tag.

On a whole, I did really enjoy our visit to The Ganton Arms. It was a decent Sunday Roast and in the heart of London. So it would be perfect if you were wanting a bite to eat in between shopping on Oxford Street or heading to the theatre later on. Hopefully I won’t leave it as long before my next Sunday Roast Diaries post! Where to head next?
