My Jersey Food & Drink Diary
Last month, I was lucky enough to be invited on a trip with Jet2 Holidays and VisitJersey to discover why Jersey is the perfect island break. You can read all about this fun filled trip in my Long Weekend in Jersey, Channel Islands blogpost. As promised, I’m doing an in-depth post of everywhere we ate and drank. Oh boy, did we manage to eat a lot in just three nights. Jersey seemed to have so many incredible restaurants and eateries and plenty more for me to visit on another trip! These are the eight places we managed to visit whilst in Jersey with Jet2Holidays and Visit Jersey.

Oyster box
Our first evening, we went over to St.Brelades Bay to the Oyster Box. This place is on the beachfront with gorgeous views over the bay. The view does help but the whole vibe of the restaurant gives off that we’re in Ibiza or Greece. This restaurant is a seafood lovers dream with Jersey Rock Oysters and plenty of seafood dishes such as Crab Taglierini and Sea Bass.
I went for the Pot Roast Chicken which was served with creamy mash, grilled baby leeks and sage and onion gravy. The portion was pretty generous and I thought it was utterly delicious. The dish was full of flavour and I had no complaints as it was wolfed down in a matter of minutes. I paired my meal with a Royal Jersey Gin which I just had to try before visiting where it was made the next day!

La Mare Wine Estate
The next day we visited La Mare Wine Estate for a tasting and Vineyard tour. The whole place was utterly breathtakingly stunning. Before our tour, we were lucky enough to be dining there for lunch. The café offered views out to the vineyard and had an extensive menu of salads, sandwiches, wraps, platters and much more! I opted for the Chicken Fajita Salad which is something I don’t think I’ve come across before. Cajun spiced chicken paired with tortilla chips, salad, feta cheese and bacon. This is my idea of heaven all in one dish. It was absolutely delicious. I think as a whole, everyone was just blown away by the size of the portions given that it was just a spot of lunch.
La Mare is where the Royal Jersey Gin is distilled! However with our lunch, we opted to try their Perquage 2022 Rosé Wine straight from the La Mare vineyard. So good that a bottle may have made it into my suitcase to bring home!

Botana
We stopped by Botana located on Caledonia Place in St.Helier. This wasn’t too far from our hotel; The Club Hotel & Spa. Whilst Botana specialises in traditional Mediterranean fine dining and authentic tapas, we just enjoyed a drink outside in the sunshine. This is an excellent location to watch the world go by in the sunshine.

La Bastille Bar & Brasserie
Our evening meal was also in St. Helier at La Bastille Bar & Brasserie. This place is in a beautiful 17th century building and you can tell this is a place where locals hang out. The menu had me drooling with so many delicious dishes. I went for the halloumi salad to start which was served with pomegranate and a french dressing. I don’t usually order salad’s but I’m so glad I did! Also, who doesn’t love a bit of Halloumi?!
For mains, I got the Fillet of Beef served with Garlic Butter, Wild Mushrooms and Hand cut Chips. The meal was delicious, however the beef wasn’t cooked how I’d requested which was the only minor complaint. Luckily, I’m not too fussed. Finally, for dessert, I got the Churros which was served with ice cream and a chocolate sauce. This was a bit hit for me. Churros need to be served in restaurants more!

The porter’s store
Following our delicious meal at La Bastille Bar & Brasserie, we walked over to The Porter’s Store which is within the Pomme D’or Hotel. I believe you need a reservation to get into this Speakeasy style bar. This place is incredible, the whole vibe is amazing and I just love how it’s decked out. Of course, I went for The Sweet Escape cocktail which was actually a Hendricks Cocktail Finalist and included the Hendricks Floral Adora Gin mixed with Elderflower Liqueur, Rosemary, Lime and Blueberry. It seems I picked the most show-stopping cocktail which came with bubbles and smoke! It was pretty amazing and not to mention, it tasted delicious!

The Hungry Man
The following day, we visited Rozel Bay which is a small but charming fishing port. Sitting on the harbour wall is The Hungry Man, a kiosk cafe serving breakfast sandwiches, burgers and their famous crab sandwiches. I got the Jersey Beef Burger with Cheese and it was HUGE! It was a great burger though and enjoyed even more with a lovely view of the harbour. The Hungry Man is in a fabulous location and their alfresco dining is great when the weather is glorious like when we visited!

Bass & Lobster
Our final evening meal was at The Bass & Lobster in Gorey. We were greeted by the owner who was so lovely and talked us through the menu which had some amazing specials! This place was really a local gem. With a menu including tantalising seafood dishes, rump of lamb and duck breast. I was swayed by the chargrilled sirloin steak which was served with truffle and parmesan hand cooked chips, jersey asparagus and king prawn mushrooms. It was cooked to perfection! I did have envy of everyones dishes though especially the Lamb. Pretty sure I could’ve ate it all.
For dessert, the Bass & Lobster had an extensive ice cream list with the most intriguing and unique flavours. We are talking Thai red curry, garlic, sourdough and stilton cheese flavours! We did all sample the garlic flavour and sadly it wasn’t for me as a dessert. I opted for scoops of the sorbet and got the flavours Raspberry Bellini & Passionfruit which were delicious.

El Tico Beach Cantina
Just before we headed to the airport we visited the El Tico Beach Cantina which is overlooking St. Ouen’s Bay aka surfer’s paradise. I absolutely loved place and we had a lovely private dining room overlooking the beachfront. The El Tico Beach Cantina had a great and varied menu, we were literally spoilt for choice. There was everything from pasta, curry, burgers, seafood and much more! I had to get the fish and chips and they did not disappoint. This is coming from a girl who lives by the seaside but this was one of the best fish and chips I’d had in a long time! Eating at El Tico Beach Cantina was a great way to end our trip to Jersey.
As you can see we ate, ate and ate whilst on our trip to Jersey. I was genuinely surprised how lovely everywhere was and can tell Jersey is teaming with excellent restaurants and bars. If you visit Jersey, you’ll most definitely be spoilt for choice on where to eat!
XOXO
