The Best Beaches to Visit from London
Feeling the need to head to the beach? The beach starts calling during the warmer months and those that live in major cities like London will want to escape city life and head to the seaside. You should know that there are a few excellent beaches easily accessible from London that will make for a great day out.

Brighton
First, you have Brighton. Brighton during the warmer months of the year is an incredible place to visit, not just because you have a long stretch of beach to enjoy. You also have the pier, the Laines, Sea Life Centre just as a few activities for a fun day out in summer. You can also easily jump on the train from London Bridge or London Victoria and get a train direct to Brighton in about an hour – the beach is then just a short stroll from Brighton station!
Margate
The coastal town of Margate is rising in popularity and for good reason. Margate has a long sandy beach, amusements, fish and chips, everything else you want from a seaside town, and plenty of art and culture to enjoy. A trip here will take you around 90 minutes from St Pancras International.

Southend-On-Sea
Located in Essex, Southend-On-Sea is just an hour from London Fenchurch and another seaside destination rising in popularity thanks to improved rail services and regeneration projects. There is plenty of space to relax on the beach with 11km to choose from as well as the longest pleasure pier in the world.

Camber Sands
Camber Sands in East Sussex is another beach with sand giving you a proper beach experience without having to travel too far (an hour from St. Pancras International). This is also a great option if you are bringing a dog with you as there are dog-friendly zones in the summer months.
East Head at West Wittering, Chichester
West Witting is considered to be one of the best beaches in the southeast with long stretches of sandy beach, dunes and a cafe (it is also another dog-friendly beach). You also have the picturesque cathedral town of Chichester nearby making it a great place for a day out or weekend away. The train takes around 90 minutes from London Victoria to Chichester.
It might not feel like you are near the ocean in London, but there are a handful of excellent beaches that you can be at in just over an hour with the above being a few of the best. There is nothing better than heading to the seaside on a warm summer’s day and the above destinations have everything that you could need from a trip to the seaside and plenty to see and do beyond chilling on the beach.
