Six Months in Our First Home

Decorating Plans for our First Home

I can’t believe we have been in our new house for almost two months now. We’re just about settled in and finally unpacked the last box this week! We were really lucky with this house as it really doesn’t need a lot doing to it. Most rooms are plain white or grey and don’t need anything urgent doing to them but it’s so much fun planning what we can do in the future! I thought I would do a little blogpost sharing some of my plans as I’m hoping to do a lot more interiors and home posts.

Bedroom

I’m going to be sharing a bit more of my bedroom in an upcoming post as I’ve partnered with DUSK who sell some gorgeous luxury bedding. At the moment, this is the room which we are doing the least to. We’ve made zero changes but in future, we have a lot of plans. Our bedroom is a pretty decent size, we have enough room for lot’s of storage as well as having an integrated wardrobe. Although we wont be doing anything anytime soon, the plan would be to upgrade to a king size bed with quite a big grey headboard. Additionally, I really want panelled walls behind the bed to add some more dimension to the room. I am also obsessed with the Neon Mama signs and think one would look great in here. There isn’t anything wrong with our carpet which is dark grey but I’d potentially like something a bit lighter. I’m going to share a few inspiration images from my Pinterest.

Bathroom

The bathroom is another room which I have great plans for but not a lot will be happening anytime soon. Me and Stefan are in a slight disagreement as we have a shower over our bath. Whilst Stefan would prefer just a shower, I don’t plan on getting rid of the bath – no way! Along with everything in the house, the bathroom is still in a really good condition. The one main thing I would change would be the glass bath screen to something like the photo above. In the meantime, I’m just going to have a little refresh with a new bath mat and maybe a circular black hanging mirror.

I absolutely love looking at different bathroom showrooms though to get some inspiration. The Multiliving bathroom showroom in North London has some gorgeous luxury ideas. They have partnered with italian bathroom designers SCAVOLINI so there’s that luxury italian feel to the showroom. Certainly it’s a great place to go get some ideas and get your bathroom of your dreams!

Kitchen/Conservatory

The kitchen absolutely needs nothing doing with it and I don’t think it will ever need anything. The previous owners had recently had a new kitchen put in and it’s totally to our taste with PLENTY of storage which I absolutely love. We have a pretty spacious conservatory and have bought a beautiful big dining table for in there. The conservatory is actually carpeted which in future we might change and look at engineered wood flooring. Hopefully in the next couple of months, we will look at getting a new set of doors as there’s no windows on the current one. The dream would be Bifold doors to enable extra natural light to flood through and bring the outside in!

Living Room

We don’t plan to do a lot with the living room. We’ve purchased the most beautiful blue sofa so it’s just a case of working out what the vibe of the room is with this statement sofa. I’ve obviously been taking a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and I think black and white accessories may be the way we are going. I’ve been looking at different sideboards and tv units as we have very simple ones at the moment but i think that will be the only thing we buy for the living room. The flooring is original wooden flooring and it’s just so beautiful.

My Office

Finally, we’ve got the spare room which is more like my office. I’m excited as I can share a few photos of this room as we’ve done a few bits already! This is the only room in the house which I felt like the carpet needing changing asap. Mainly because it was stripy and just certainly not to my taste!  We’ve also bought a great sofa bed and i just can’t believe the difference of the room. I want to get a few more bits for the office like a new chair and potentially a hollywood mirror but for now I’m sure happy with how the room looks.

Next on the agenda is mainly the garden as we are moving into Summer months. We’ve picked up a BBQ and a corner sofa for the decking area. Hopefully if the weather get’s a little nicer, we will be able to sit out and have friends over for a BBQ! Obviously with the house we can’t do everything all at once so I’m excited to see how the house progresses over the next couple of months.

XOXO
