What I’ve been watching on Disney+

Disney+ is pretty much the main thing getting me through lockdown. We all know how much I love Disney and it was an absolute godsend when the streaming site got launched in the UK last month. I had pre-ordered the service for the next 12 months at a reduced price of £49.99. I thought I would share what I have been watching in the last month or so on Disney+ as it’s just so much more than the regular Disney movies. So if you’re stuck on what to watch or thinking about signing up – hopefully, you’ll find something in this post. Additionally, you can also sign up for a free 7-day trial and it’s £5.99 a month after that!

DISNEY & PIXAR CLASSICS

Of course, you are spoilt for choice with plenty of Disney classics from The Little Mermaid to Peter Pan. You’ll find a full collection of classic movies and all the Pixar favourites. Honestly, the choice is endless and I’ve been able to watch some Disney movies that I’ve not seen in forever. Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Lilo & Stitch, Moana and Coco are just a few of the movies I’ve watched over the last couple of weeks. I really need to rediscover some of the oldies but goodies such as Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules,  101 Dalmations and many more.

DISNEY CHANNEL FAVOURITES

Aside from loving all things Disney, one of the main reasons I signed up is that they had some old favourites from the Disney Channel. I don’t know about you but I was obsessed with all things Hannah Montana and High School Musical when I was 11, so it’s so great to just binge-watch them. I’ve already watched all three High School Musical movies, most episodes of The Suite Life and Zack and Cody and Hannah Montana. I’ve got to see The Hannah Montana Movie is an absolute masterpiece. One of my favourite movies which I’ve ended up watching twice. Last night, I also watched the Lizzie Maguire movie and there are all episodes of the series too! There’s also a Lizzie Maguire re-make in the pipeline with the original cast which I’m looking forward to.

THE WORLD OF STAR WARS AND MARVEL

Believe it or not, at the start of the year I had never seen a Star Wars movie. Stefan kinda made me binge-watch them in February in preparation for our visit to Galaxy’s Edge which sadly got cancelled. I’m not going to lie, I thought I’d absolutely hate the movies but I’ve turned into a bit of a fan. The new Star Wars series; The Mandalorian is also a Disney+ exclusive and features Baby Yoda! I haven’t watched it yet, I think it’s one to watch with Stefan but I’ve heard great reviews.

Along with every Star Wars movie available, there is also all the Marvel movies available too. I’ve only ever watched Thor but I’m actually planning to have a binge-watch of the Marvel movies after seeing this on Twitter with a suggested order.

THE IMAGINEERING STORY

Hands down, The Imagineering Story is the best thing on Disney+. With new episodes released every Friday, you get an amazing insight into the Imagineers behind making the Disney Parks. Episode one follows Walt Disney’s vision behind Disneyland California. It really is amazing to see how far his vision has come and how all the different parks came about. It’s crazy how much detail and creativity goes behind everything and if you watch anything on Disney+ it should be this! It’s also worth noting there are a few other Disney documentaries such as One Day at Disney and most recently Prop Culture. Another favourite of mine which is more of a reality show than a documentary is Disney’s Fairytale Weddings as it follows couples tying the know at the most magical place on earth.

reimagined classics

The past couple of years, Disney has reimagined some of our favourite classic movies into live-action movies. I’ll be honest that some of them have been hit and miss. However, Disney+ has an exclusive live-action version of The Lady and the Tramp. I was pretty sceptical about watching this but it was an absolutely lovely movie which I would certainly recommend. Other live-action favourites of mine have been Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. I still need to watch the new Dumbo which was released last year but thankfully that’s also on Disney+ too!

I’d honestly recommend downloading the trial of Disney+ as there is so much content. There really is something for everyone. Whether it’s National Geographic documentaries or just watching Disney classics, you’re spoilt for choice. Also worth mentioning that Disney has just announced the addition of a live performance of Hamilton The Musical on July 4th!

Have you got Disney+? What have you been watching on the app?

XOXO
