Keeping Healthy During Lockdown

If anything has come from lockdown it’s realising how important it is to take time for yourself. Taking care of yourself mentally and physically is so important and slowing down over the last few weeks has really cleared my mind and given myself clarity. I’ve never been the healthiest of people but in the last couple of weeks, I’ve definitely been taking little steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Now, you won’t find me in the gym 24/7 after lockdown and drinking protein shakes daily but I thought I would share with you how I’ve been making small changes.

fresh homecooked meals

During the lockdown, I have been cooking a lot more. I’m not going to lie, we used to dine out ALOT before lockdown so it’s been nice to experiment in the kitchen. I actually think I’ll be a domestic goddess before long. With many takeaways been closed, that had helped curve my unhealthy meals but I have also signed up to Hello Fresh. If you’ve not heard of Hello Fresh it’s a weekly subscription service where they send you all the fresh ingredients to your chosen meals. I’ve loved using Hello Fresh as it’s given me a lot more confidence in the kitchen and also made me try out some new things all whilst cooking with fresh ingredients. If you’re interested in joining, you can get your first box with £20 off for £9.99 which includes three meals for two people using the code HS-WGZ7DOTQU.

daily exercise

Since the beginning of lockdown, I’ve tried to keep up with utilising our allowed daily exercise and going for a few long walks. I’m lucky to live on the coast so there are some gorgeous walks to go on. It’s been good for my mental health to get out of the house and have some fresh air alongside getting a little bit fitter on some of these walks.

smoothies

Another thing I have been enjoying is having a fruit smoothie. I’ve always loved eating fruit so we’ve stocked up a little bit and used the Breville Blend Active to make a few different smoothies. Banana, Strawberry and Raspberry have been a personal favourite of mine. It’s a really great way to get some of your five a day too! Another great idea which I’m going to do when the weather is hot is to freeze the smoothies into ice lollies. How delightful would they be on a Summer’s Day?! Another thing I have considered trying is CBD gummies which are said to have many benefits. Shop CBD gummies UK have plenty of options on where to find the best in the UK.

staying away from snacks

During Easter, it was hard to snack on ALL OF THE CHOCOLATE. But since then, I’ve tried to discipline myself and stay away from snacking on chocolate, crisps, biscuits and just all of the mini rolls. The best thing to do is just to stay away from snacks, don’t buy them in the first place and if you do have snacks, eat in moderation. Which all of that is easier said than done but I feel like I’ve not been snacking that much, if at all.

taking care of myself

As I’ve mentioned, taking care of yourself is so important. I’ve used lockdown to pamper myself, go crazy with my skincare routine, meditate and just take time to work on a healthy mind. It’s also super important to take care of yourself physically and when things are back to normal, it could be a good chance to address concerns with your doctor and also participate in your annual personal health check.

Although lockdown has been tough, I’ve been in a very fortunate situation that I can work from home and have quite a lot of time on my hands to spend a little time taking care of myself. I’m trying to use this time to develop and grow. Hopefully, when this is all over, I’ll still be making healthier choices and taking time for myself. I’m going to be doing a few other posts about lockdown and what else I’ve been up to and actually what I’ve learnt over the last couple of weeks. It’s certainly been a very interesting time in our lives.

XOXO
