July 23, 2018

Finding ways to boost your travel fund could help you to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime, as you will have more cash to spend on better attractions, souvenirs, and accommodation.

With a little bit of research, cutting back and booking flights and tickets at the right time, you could quickly increase your holiday budget. For some helpful tips on how to do so, read the below five easy ways to increase your travel fund.

1. Book a Flight at the Right Time

If you would like to slash an average of 10% off both your flights and accommodation, you book a trip during May and November. Also, if you want to avoid your travel expenses rising by an average of 26%, it’s a smart idea to avoid booking a break during December, which is the most expensive month of the year for travel.

You could save even more money on a holiday by booking it in advance. For example, you should book between 13 to 25 weeks in advance to reduce your travel expenditure, so you’ll have more cash to spend on holiday clothing and attractions.

2. Limit How Often You Eat Out on Holiday

You wouldn’t eat out for every meal when at home, so there is no reason to do so when overseas, either. Rather than filling up on an expensive breakfast, buy some fruit, yoghurt or nut bars instead. You could also make your own sandwiches for a picnic on a beach, or you could cook up a tasty dish at a self-catering hotel rather than dining at a restaurant. If you limit yourself to only one restaurant meal per day, you could save a significant amount of money.

3. Pick the Best Airport Car Parking Deal

Parking up at an airport doesn’t need to be expensive, as you could top up your travel fund by simply searching for the best deal. For example, if you are thinking of travelling via London to your destination, you should compare car parks servicing Gatwick.

You can browse the best Gatwick Airport parking, such as meet and greet or park and ride, so you won’t pay a penny more than you need to safely park your vehicle while abroad.

4. Adopt a No Souvenirs Policy

Buying souvenirs for family members and friends can quickly add up. Before you know it, you might need to choose between buying someone a gift or going on an unforgettable trip. Ensure you’re not strapped for cash on holiday by adopting a no souvenirs policy.

5. Find Free Things to Do

Increase your holiday money without compromising on fun by finding the best free things to do at your destination. For example, many museums offer free days, or you could spend your time on a beach or enjoy a free walking tour. You’ll then have more money to spend on luxury restaurants and drinks throughout your trip.
