On my recent trip to London, I was determined to visit the mothership that is Selfridges. I’d seen online that Birchbox has opened their own pop-up stand until the end of December and I was desperate to visit. Located downstairs in the Beauty Workshop, you can build your own Birchbox for £15. I was given a “menu” of products which would be available. I actually ended up visiting Selfridges on two different days and there were different products to choose from each day. I’m not too sure how often they switch things up but I’m happy with what I picked out!
For £15, you get the choice of two different boxes either a holographic design which I chose or a plain blue design. In these boxes, you get a sticker set so you can pimp out your box and then choose six deluxe sized samples to go inside. That was the fun bit. There’s four products to choose from each six sections with a variety of products from brands such as The Balm, Oribe, Laura Mercier, Korres, Elemis and so many more. Let’s take a peek at what I put in my box…
The first thing that went straight in my box was the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. As the full-sized version retails at £39, I thought this would be the perfect chance to try it out. I’ve heard so much about Oribe and I’m so excited to test this out! Another item which went straight in the box was the LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Peachy Sheen. I’ve been aware of the brand since Tati from Glam Life Guru curated her own collection for Birchbox. It’s such a beautiful rose gold shade and
There were two face masks on Birchbox bar but I went for the Starskin Bio-Cellulose Second Skin Eye Mask. I’ve not tried anything by Starskin before so I thought this would be a great chance to try the brand out plus I’m a sucker for a good eye mask. This one promises to be instantly brightening, hydrating, smoothing and relieves puffiness! I also picked up the Ole Hendrickson Cleansing Cloths (10 pack). To be honest, there wasn’t a lot else in that section that caught my eye and I didn’t want a second face mask.
I’m finally going to be trying the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Shimmering Dry Oil. I’ve wanted to try out this for ages, so I’m glad I got my hands on this cute little sample! The golden shimmer scares me a little but we will see how that goes. Finally, I’ve got a A09 Lip Brush from Spectrum which has a super cool holographic end. However, I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be angled or if there is just a dent in it though!
Overall, I’m really happy with my box! I’m going to be able to try out a lot of new products which I haven’t tried before. I guess that’s the brilliant thing about making my own Birchbox! The pop-up shop will be at Selfridges in London until December 28th, more info here. Do you subscribe to Birchbox or would you like to make your own?
