Visiting Iceland in 2016

With 2016 just around the corner, I have been thinking about the year ahead. One of my main goals of 2016 is to do a bit of travelling and I hope to book a couple of trips to places I’ve never been to before. One of the places on my 2016 travel wishlist is Iceland, I’d love to go there next year around October/November. Visiting Iceland in Winter is the prime time to see the incredible Northern Lights which is something I’m desperate to experience, along with my Mum.  Visiting Iceland in 2016 - Rachel Nicole UK Blogger

I’ve been browsing the Guide to Iceland website to find out more information on all the amazing sights, excursions and things to do. Like I mentioned, seeing the Northern Lights would be an insane experience and it’s actually top of my Mum’s bucket list so I’d love to take her and hopefully see incredible lights. There are many different tours to book on to see them from camping to cruising or just going for a couple of hours (which I think is what we would do – camping isn’t my thing!). Alternatively, you could also get a Car Rental in Iceland and explore the country at your own pace with your own custom itinerary.

One of the main places I’d love to visit is the Blue Lagoon. I’ve seen so much online about this and it looks incredible and perfect for a relaxing couple of hours on your trip. I saw that Victoria from InTheFrow visited recently and it looked amazing! A tour of the Golden Circle is another must do for me, the half day trip takes you to see some stunning sights such as the Gullfoss Waterfall, the Geysir hot springs and Þingvellir national park. Although, I’m not a huge fan of the cold which is slightly ironic that I want to visit Iceland, the amazing sights would be more than worth it.

Exploring the capital city of Reykjavik is also on my list, we are looking at staying and being based in the city. From visiting the local shops and restaurants to the famous Hallgrímskitkja cathedral and although Reykjavik is one of the smallest cities in Europe, there sounds like there is so much to see and things to do in Reykjavik.

Iceland looks like such a beautiful county with so much to explore and do. The landscapes look breathtaking and the tours take you to see some incredibly unique sights.  I’ve never visited anywhere like this and it’s firmly on my list of places to visit in 2016. Have you ever visited Iceland? Where would you like to visit in 2016?

XOXO
