ELF Thursdays – Baked Eyeshadow Palettes

Welcome to my first post for ELF Thursdays! How exciting!? If you’re a newbie and want to know more about what these posts are all about then click here. This weeks post is going to be focused on the Bakes Eye-shadow Palettes. I received two different palettes; California and NYC. I decided to go with doing a review on the California one which has more natural and bronzed tones. The NYC is quite similar but there is a few stand out shades such as navy and raspberry shadows.

The California palette is totally down my street with the tones, nothing too out there but great tones. What i found with this palette is that some shades were more pigmented than others and applied really well but other just seemed to be consumed by the shimmer and glitter in the shadow. They all have shimmer to them but as i said before some are more shimmery than others.

The shadows definitely go on better and last longer with a primer. My main concern about the palette is that it’s more glittery and shimmery than i expected which is not always the look you want. I do think some shades are better than others but it’s a great cheaper alternative against something like the Naked Palette.

As you can see by the swatches some shades are more stand out against others, whilst some are just shimmer, shimmer, shimmer!
It’s not the best palette for everyday make-up but i can see myself using it for a night out look when i want glittery eyes.

Let me know your thoughts on the first post of ELF Thursdays!

I also quickly wanted to mention and I’ll probably go on about it for the next couple of months but me and some girls at University are raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital through fundraising events and then a big charity event in March. I’d love it if you guys could go follow and like my fund-raising page!

XOXO

  1. I like reading about ELF products. Most of the time people post a haul but never actually review most of the products, or only choose the good ones!

  2. I like the colours but I think they all look very similar.. I would like a palette with more variety!
