When Matalan contacted me about doing the £50 Matalan Homeware Challenge to do up my new Studio I jumped at the chance. I’ve just gone back to University for my second year and although I’m still in Uni Accommodation I have a brand new spanking Studio which i share with my Boyfriend. A studio does sound quite dingy and having the Bedroom, Living Room and Kitchen all-in-one may not seem great but it’s actually really big and I’m loving it. Matalan kindly gifted me with £50 to spend in-store to add a personal touch to my new studio.
I think it’s really important to make it homey and comfortable and i like everything snuggly and pretty, So one of the first things i bought was a big giant blanket with a matching furry cushion and at £10 each a total steal! On my bedside table i keep a photo frame which holds up to six photo’s and twizzles about, I’m also hoping to get some instagram prints for my pinboard! The next item i consider to be a must-have for everyone especially if you have lot’s of coats and jackets like me and that’s a door hook which hangs on the top of a door!
On to Kitchen-y things, I got two jars for only £3 and they are great for storing sweeties and also look really quirky! Our Kitchen is quite small and we only have 3 cupboards, so not a lot of room for mugs and plates so we decided to get a Mug Tree for £5 and they were perfect for our bargain mugs to go on for only a £1 each! The final thing i bought which i only got for the design but they are really handy is some retro cola placemats and coaster set. Trust me, coasters are important.
Teddy Fleece Throw* £10
Faux Fur Cushion* £10
Spinning Photo Frame* £8
Chrome over the door Hook* £4
Glass Jars* £2each or 2 for £3
Mug Tree* £5
Mugs* £1each
Placemat and Coaster set* £6
I came under budget with £48 spent on sprucing up the studio but i have since bought more jars! Matalan is such a one-stop shop for goodies for Uni. I managed to also get some bargain pillows, a bathroom caddy and bin and lot’s more kitchen things!
I love your picks – especially the spinning frame (perfect for places you cant put nails in the walls) Matalan is so overlooked by some people but it has some gems!
I really love the spinning photo frame, such a cool idea.
