Sunday Roast Diaries: The Cambridge Chop House, Cambridge
The Sunday Roast Diaries is back for 2025! As you’d be able to guess, the Sunday Roast Diaries is my favourite series I’ve created on my blog. It means we get to go out for some incredible Sunday Roasts. Wherever I visit, I always try and hunt down the best roast in the area. A few weeks ago, we visited Essex for a wedding and on the long drive home we decided to stop off in Cambridge for lunch. After a little bit of research, I decided to book The Cambridge Chop House.

The Cambridge Chop House is located on King’s Parade so it’s mega central to the city and main sights. We parked in the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre – however, it was slightly chaotic getting in. The restaurant which wasn’t too far away and directly opposite King’s College and the famous Corpus Clock. We were lucky and got sat in the window with the amazing views behind us. There’s a fair few tables at ground level but it’s also a huge restaurant downstairs too, which is a shame as you don’t get the views.
The menu looked amazing with different cuts of steak and chops and dishes such as lamb shank and pies. Obviously, we were there for one thing and one thing only; The Sunday Roast. We had the choice of sirloin of beef, pork belly, chicken with pork stuffing or cauliflower steak. Given that the restaurant is a very popular steak place, we both opted for the Sirloin of Beef which was £21.75 and we added a side of cauliflower cheese and a side of mashed potato for £4.80 each.

The Sirloin of Beef Roast came with roast potatoes, a very nice Yorkshire pudding, buttered greens and root vegetables. It was all very delicious and you could tell the beef was top quality. I was impressed with the meal but I thought there could’ve been some more vegetables as it was slightly lacking if we hadn’t have ordered the sides. I do think it’s a lovely place to come for a meal, it had a great atmosphere and the views really sold it for me. On a whole, i’m obsessed with Cambridge and would love to go back for a whole weekend and explore further. I’d even love to return to The Cambridge Chop House to try their steaks too!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve had an amazing roast recently & is there anywhere you’d like to see me visit. I’m hoping to post a Sunday Roast Diaries blog post every single month in 2025. You guys best hold me to this!!
