Where to stay

No matter what your budget is, the Lake District has plenty of snug accommodation options for you to get a great night’s sleep. After a day exploring the mountains, snuggle up in a cosy cottage where you can stoke up a fire and crack open the board games.

Alternatively, there are plenty of luxury hotels that boast lakeside views; perfect if you’re celebrating a special occasion. And of course, camping is never out of the question for die-hard adventurers.

What to do

For nature lovers, the day’s activities are kind of a no brainer. With so many trails and summits to discover, many people go to the Lakes just to lose themselves in the hills and leave the modern world behind. Even those who don’t want to go all the way up can easily take in the sights and sounds from the lakes.

If you don’t fancy getting a sweat on, there are also plenty of attractions to visit like Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Beatrix Potter’s House where she wrote her magical children’s books. Immerse yourself in the history of these perfectly preserved houses!

Enjoy the little extras

The Lake District has charm in abundance, so there are plenty of gorgeous things to add on to your trip to make it all that more special. You’ll find that most historic houses and cafes serve delectable cream teas and brilliant pub food. Beer enthusiasts will also love local brews like Black Sheep after a long day in the hills.

Come evening time, make it really cosy next to the fire with a selection of snacks, a piping-hot mug of green tea and a movie – perfect for some well-earned relaxation.

And if it’s warm enough…

Wild swimmers unite! Take a refreshing dip in any of the crystal-clear lakes, many of which are believed to have healing powers. And if it isn’t warm enough, cold water swimming has plenty of health benefits that will see you making a splash in no time.

Have you visited the Lake District before?

XOXO
