When it comes to booking a hotel there are a lot of things to consider. For most people, an affordable price is a key factor but if you are looking to splash out and make your stay more of an experience, you are going to be looking at quality, service and design. For me, I love a good fancy bathroom and a view. I’ve teamed up with Fishpools after they recently put together some of their favourite London Bar’s with incredible views to create my own list of hotels in London with fabulous views.
Starting off with a hotel which I personally haven’t stayed in but it’s on my Hotel Bucket List. The Shangri-La Hotel is pretty spectacular as it’s actually located between the 34th and 52nd levels of The Shard. Obviously, this hotel offers incredible views over the River Thames and across London. The rooms all have floor to ceiling windows and how amazing would it be to take a bath overlooking those panoramic views?! I believe prices start from around £400 per night but include access to the hotel’s indoor infinity pool on the 52nd floor!
Sunborn Yacht Hotel
For something a little different, potentially try a night on the water. The Sunborn Yacht Hotel is a luxury vessel located in the Royal Victoria Docks nearby to the Excel Centre. Although it’s located a little further outside of central London, it’s pretty accessible from Greenwich on the Emirates Cable Cars.
The Sunborn has some lovely views across the water and the twinkling lights of the city on an evening are kind of magical. The yacht itself is pretty amazing with stylish and modern rooms and it’s not unusual to find some really affordable deals online.
London Marriott County House
I was actually totally unaware that there was even a hotel in this location until doing a bit of research for this blogpost. The Marriott County House is located right in the Thames right next to London Aquarium and the London Eye. It’s in a prime location if you are wanting to visit the nearby attractions and also if you are wanting an incredible view across to The Houses of Parliament and Westminster. The only downside is that I presume the area will always be super busy with tourists but it would be worth it for those views.
Citizen M tower Bridge
Whilst you will find many hotels with amazing views over the London Eye and Westminster area, just further along the river you’ve got Tower Bridge and The Tower of London. Citizen M have recently opened a hotel directly opposite The Tower of London offering views of the famous landmark right from your bed.
I would actually thoroughly recommend staying in a Citizen M hotel; I’ve only had positive experiences. What makes the Tower Bridge branch so special is that it’s steps away from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Citizen M is an affordable hotel full of style on convenience which is my kinda thing, with complimentary Wi-Fi, 24 hour food service and you can control your whole room from an iPad!
The ME Hotel located on The Strand is somewhere I’ve visited quite a few times as it was in the perfect location for all things London Fashion Week when it was held at Somerset House. The hotel is minutes away from Covent Garden and the Embankment but it’s the rooftop which is one of the stand out features of the hotel The ME Hotels, Radio Rooftop Bar is actually featured in the Fishpool’s article and offers views across London and landmarks such as The London Eye and Westminster.
What do you look for when booking a hotel? Do you like a good view?
