Last week, my friend Ellie and I took a little girly trip to Ox Pasture Hall. The country house hotel in Scarborough, Yorkshire is only about a fifteen-minute car journey from my house. Making it the perfect little staycation break for one evening. On arrival, I was greeted at reception and taken to our room which was the Ilkley Suite. As we were guided around the hotel, I realised it was so much larger than I first thought It would be. There are actually thirty-two rooms varying from luxury suites to four-poster bedrooms.
Our room was a luxury suite and it was huge – way bigger than my whole flat at University! The views from the room were incredible, especially from the living space which you could see the whole of Ox Pasture’s grounds. I did take advantage of the beautiful rooms and filmed a couple of YouTube videos. (I’m getting back on the YouTube train – Find my channel here)
We were booked into the restaurant for 7.30pm but didn’t get seated for about 45 minutes. It wasn’t really a problem as we were not in a rush but we were pretty hungry. I’d heard that the Courtyard Restaurant was amazing and has a great reputation in the area so I was eager to taste it for myself.
To start with we ordered the Smoked Salmon Mousse with Caviar with Pork Popcorn to nibble on. I’ve never had anything like the Pork Popcorn before, it was almost like very light, airy pork scratching’s. For the main course, I went for the Pork Belly dish and it didn’t disappoint. It came with green beans, a potato rosti and of course, apple sauce. This possibly could be the best pork I’ve ever had, it just crumbled away and was incredibly yummy. Ellie went for the Seared Sea Bream with Tomato and Olive Tagliatelle.
I won’t lie, we would’ve ordered everything from the desserts menu if it didn’t make us look uber greedy. Everything sounded amazing. I ordered the Lemon Cheesecake and Ice Cream which was delicious. Ellie went for the Ice Cream Sandwich which I was quite jealous about, it came with passion fruit ice cream and apparently tasted amazing.
I thought I’d share a couple of photo’s of my outfit for the evening too as it was such a beautiful setting for photos. I wore my new skirt from Apricot which I have been loving the floral print. The fit is slightly a bit snug which didn’t help with all the food devoured. Paired off with my Moda In Pelle nude heels which basically go with everything.

After a very comfortable night’s sleep, it was time to get packed up and go down for breakfast in the restaurant. As well as having cereals, juices and fruit laid out on a buffet there was a menu to choose different breakfast dishes from. I think what I ordered was called the Yorkshire Toast (French Toast) or something like that which came with Bacon and Maple Syrup. It was really nice but after spying on everyone else’s breakfast’s I wish I had gone for the Full English Breakfast. Ellie ordered Smoked Salmon and Poached Egg which looked great.
I’ve previously visited Ox Pasture Hall many years ago for a wedding and couldn’t remember much of it. On this trip, it was lovely to explore the hotel and grounds more. They do offer many wedding packages including using their converted barn. One thing is for sure, the photos would absolutely be stunning with the countryside as a picturesque backdrop.
Maybe I’m a little biased but the hotel is in a pretty great location. Not only is there stunning views over the North York Moors National Park, but you are also minutes away from the Scarborough seaside. Additionally, you are a short car ride from some of my favourite places such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby. I’m hoping to visit both Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby (as well as explore a lot more of Yorkshire) this Summer as they are both stunning places and definitely a must-visit if you are in this neck of the woods. Fish and Chips need to happen and a little flutter in the Amusements.
I had a lovely mini-break at Ox Pasture Hall, it was great just to get away for one evening. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and felt very luxurious. I’d definitely love to go back whether it’s for another short break or to try their Afternoon Tea or Sunday Lunch. A big thank you to Ox Pasture Hall for inviting me.
