Last month, I headed down to Birmingham for a couple of days to see Hayley, visit the Christmas Market and also go to the Clothes Show. If you are a new reader, I actually used to live in Birmingham whilst I was at University so it was quite lovely to visit. The city has changed so much in the past 18 months, it seems that the moment I left everything changed. One of the new additions is the AC Hotel by Marriott which is located canalside in The Mailbox (pictured below).
I arrived into the city around lunchtime. I was a little early to check in but the AC Hotel Birmingham has a left luggage service so I didn’t have to lug my suitcase out to the NEC. As the hotel is located in The Mailbox, it’s in a very central location with a short walk from the train station, shopping district and Broad Street; where all the bars are! Oh, and Harvey Nichols, is basically next door – Shopper’s paradise! There’s also plenty of restaurant’s in the immediate area and an Everyman Cinema.
After an afternoon of Shopping, Manicures and sitting FROW at the Clothes Show, we got swiftly checked in and made our way to our room on the third floor. The design of the whole hotel is so stylish, even the corridors have a luxe vibe with secluded seating areas. Our room was pretty spacious with a modern design. I liked that it was nothing too fussy, it was everything you needed for a quiet relaxing stay. Which is what we had.
The rooms are all fully equippted with a Nespresso Coffee Machine which seems to be the must have accessory for hotels these days. The rooms all have a large workspace which is brilliant for those who are visiting on business. Alternativly they are handy for people like me, who empty all of my beauty items across it. I really liked that there was a designated padded area next to the desk to put your suitcase on. It’s those little things that I look for in hotels! The major thing I look out for is plenty of plug sockets – especially one by your bedside! The AC Hotel not only had them everywhere including by the bed but there were USB sockets so you could charge your tech items overnight. More importantly, you don’t have to get out of bed to snooze your alarm!
The queen sized bed was an absolute dream to sleep on. After a busy week, it was great to just chill in the room. We didn’t actually end up staying in the hotel for Breakfast but they do serve it, along with Tapas and cocktails at the bar.
What I found pretty amazing and totally unique is that the hotel had it’s very own Starbucks. Located by the entrance of the lobby, you can get your Starbucks fix in a matter of minutes. I had some spare time before check out so decided to relax in the lobby with a Hot Chocolate. It’s also interesting to note that the hotel also has a gym and an AC library space where you can catch up on business.
The staff at the AC Hotel were so welcoming and helpful. The whole stay was a pleasure and actually really relaxing and peaceful. It’s hard to believe we were in the heart of Birmingham. The stylish design of the hotel and bedrooms are perfect for a couples getaways, a girly shopping trip or even if you are visiting the city on business.
XOXO
*I was a guest of the AC Hotel, Birmingham and recieved a complimentary stay, Opinions are all my own
