10 Things I Always Pack for a Stress-Free Trip

10 Things I Always Pack for a Stress-Free Trip

No matter how many times I take a trip, packing is always a panic-inducing flap. I’ve had my fair share of forgotten chargers, toiletries, and all the excessive outfits for a weekend away.  But over the years, I’ve figured out some of the items that always earn a spot in my suitcase — the little lifesavers that make travelling smoother, calmer, and a whole lot more enjoyable. It’s always best to start with a checklist so you hopefully don’t forget the essentials. Here are the 10 things I never travel without to make the trip feel stress-free and as easy as possible.

1. A Portable Charger (Fully Charged!)

There’s nothing worse than landing in a new place with 4% battery and zero idea where you’re going. A decent power bank saves the day every time — especially when you’re using your phone for maps, photos, and everything else. You don’t even want to know how many portable chargers I own, but it’s always good to have a second backup, too! This portable charger from Amazon is my favourite; you can charge your phone about 8 times!

2. An Instant Travel eSIM

Roaming charges are a thing of the past. I now set up an instant eSIM before every trip, and it’s genuinely one of the best travel hacks I’ve adopted. No queues, no swapping physical SIM cards, and no relying on dodgy hotel Wi-Fi. You can get straight on as soon as you arrive.  You’ve also got no hassle ordering an Uber from the airport as soon as you land. I’ve been using Simovo—it activates in minutes and works in loads of destinations, and it’s great if you want hassle-free data while travelling.

3. Packing Cubes

Once you start using Packing Cubes, there is no going back. They keep everything organised, make unpacking a breeze, and stop your suitcase from becoming a chaotic explosion. I can fit far more items in the suitcase using packing cubes. If you don’t use them already, get using them!

4. A Small Crossbody Bag

Secure, cute, and practical. It keeps your passport, phone, and cash close without feeling bulky. Ideal for wandering around cities or running to your gate (which, in my case, happens more often than it should). Keeping it Crossbody means it’s close to you and hopefully puts you less at risk of pickpockets. I’m obsessed with the bags from Uniqlo, and they are a staple whenever I travel anywhere!

5. A Mini First Aid & Essentials Kit

You don’t need a massive first aid kit, but it’s always good to have a few essentials. Make up a little kit of painkillers, plasters, antihistamines, a couple of wipes and pocket tissues. The main items I always need to make sure I have are blister plasters, as you don’t want sore feet holding you back and also some Tums/Rennies if I get heartburn!

6. A Refillable Water Bottle

Refillable water bottles should really go everywhere with you in life. They are eco-friendly and a total essential. You can fill them up once past security in the airport and you can avoid crazy airport prices. They are also ideal to have for a day of exploring a new city.

7. Noise-Cancelling Headphones or Earplugs

Even when I’m at home, I’m never without earplugs. I’m sure people with a snorer in their life can relate. However, when travelling it could be a loud flight or noisy neighbours in a hotel, it’s best to be prepared and have some noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs to hand.

8. A Lightweight Reusable Tote

Perfect for markets, beach days, unexpected shopping, or even carrying snacks for long journeys. A tote bag weighs basically nothing and always comes in handy. Whether I’m travelling or not, a tote bag always comes along with me.

9. A Good Travel-Sized Skincare Routine

Who doesn’t love some travel-sized minatures when travelling? There is no need to take full-size toiletries and skincare items, which take up unnecessary space and weight in your baggage. Travelling can be quite harsh on your skin; the airplane can cause dry skin, so having favourite minis keeps me feeling human. Cleanser, moisturiser and SPF are must-haves!

10. A Comfy, Oversized Scarf

Maybe one of the cooler climates, but a comfy, oversized scarf can be used in so many ways. Whether that’s a blanket on the plane, a makeshift pillow or just for wrapping up on chilly evenings. With so many uses, you won’t regret bringing along a cosy oversized scarf.

A smooth, organised suitcase makes the entire trip feel easier. With these ten essentials packed, I can relax, enjoy the journey, and focus on making memories instead of digging through my bag for the one thing I forgot. If you’re gearing up for your next getaway, consider this your friendly nudge to pack smart — and don’t forget the eSIM!
