The Wedding Diaries #5: Finding ‘The One’ at The Wedding Room, Scarborough

It’s time for an exciting post regarding my wedding planning! It’s all about how I found ‘The One’, aka my wedding dress! I met Hannah from The Wedding Room at a Wedding Fair at Scarborough’s North Cliff Golf Club, and we instantly clicked. If you’ve read my latest Wedding Diaries blog post, you’ll know how valuable I’ve found attending local Wedding Fairs. The Wedding Room is on Bar Street in Scarborough Town Centre; it’s not somewhere I was planning to look, but I’m so glad I did.

I’d previously visited Dotty Bridal in Wakefield, but didn’t have much luck finding anything close to the one. However, I did manage to rule out a few styles which certainly weren’t for me. I’d shown Hannah what I’d previously tried on and my thoughts, and she actually got some specific dresses in for me to try based on what I said. If that’s not 5* service, I don’t know what is.

We were super lucky to get a mid-week appointment the following week, and I decided to take along just my Mum. After being greeted with a glass of fizz and bonding over our sausage dog babies, it was time to get down to business. I picked a few of my favourite dresses to try and a few wild cards before going upstairs to the prettiest bridal suite. I managed to try on a fair few styles, which was really good to try on such a range. But believe it or not, it was the first dress out of all of them that I loved. Everything else that I tried just didn’t compare. I could picture wearing it on the day, and I kept going back to the first gown. I think that’s when you know it’s the one.

I got to pose with an ‘I said yes’ board for some photos, which I will cherish. It was such a special moment. The dress will take about five months to come back, and then I will be going in for fittings. I’m hopefully going to have a hair trial on the same day and also take some potential wedding shoes just so I can visualise it all coming together.

We also visited The Wedding Room to choose Stefan’s suits. They also offer a suit hire service with suits from Peter Posh. Stefan had no idea what type of suit he wanted, so it was a good job I went along also! We found a suit which tied in quite well with our wedding colours, so hopefully it will all look good together. Hannah again was so helpful with the whole experience. The boys should be going back a couple of months before the wedding to have a fitting. It’s all very exciting!

The Wedding Room also has a choice of short ‘minnie’ bridal dresses, which Hannah has designed herself. These would be excellent for a second dress or even a Hen do! They are absolutely gorgeous and worth checking out if you are in the market for a short number.

I can’t recommend going to The Wedding Room enough. I absolutely love Hannah, and she was amazing in helping pick the one and looking after us. It’s definitely the kind of customer service you aren’t gonna get at a bigger bridal shop. It’s also nice to have the same person helping you throughout the process instead of being passed around. I’m really looking forward to going back for my next fitting, which shouldn’t be too far away! Eeek!

Also, a quick note to mention that I was pretty nervous before I tried on any dresses, and really, there is nothing to worry about. It’s a really special day, and it’s not as scary as you may think it could be!
