Sunday Roast Diaries: The Ivy Market Grill, Covent Garden
Whilst I’ve been having my Eras Tour Summer & turning thirty, I’ve kinda neglected this little piece of the internet. Have no fear, I’m back with lot’s of exciting content. Starting off with a new instalment to the Sunday Roast Diaries. Last month, I was in London for a couple of days on a pre 30th birthday trip and booked The Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden for Sunday Lunch. I believe Sunday Roasts are a pretty recent addition to the menu at The Ivy restaurants and I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to go and this was it!

It was myself, my mum and friend Jess who were dining at The Ivy Market Grill for lunch where we were seated in the front dining room. As always the interior and decor is just stunning and you always get superb service. We all went for cocktails and of course, I went for the Aperol Spritz whilst Jess got a Pimm’s Cup. The Ivy Sunday Roast is served between 11am and 4pm with just a choice of Roast Beef. Myself and my Mum both went for the Sunday Roast whilst Jess got the Ivy Burger. The Sunday Roast is priced at £29.95 and comes with a selection of vegetables.

I’ve got to say the service was impeccably fast with our food coming pretty much at the same time as the drinks. I had requested the Roast to be served as is (pink) whilst mum requested for hers to be well done. The Beef was absolutely delicious and served with not one, but two Yorkshire puddings! We also got a handful roast potatoes and a side dish of green beans with almonds and carrot & swede mash. I’ve got to say the selection of sides weren’t my favourite, it was all cooked delightfully but I think I would have preferred other side options. Especially for the price. However, the beef was the real star of the show, you got a generous portion of meat and it tasted top quality.
Of course, I was buzzing for two Yorkshire puddings. However, the thing that gets top points in all my Sunday Roast Diaries posts is plenty of gravy! Thankfully The Ivy provide PLENTY of gravy. So top marks for that. I thought I’d also mention that Jess loved her Ivy Burger which was served with thick cut chips and in a brioche seeded bun.

I can never resist dessert whilst dining in The Ivy and HAD to order The Ivy Chocolate Bomb Dessert. Its an absolute classic and so delicious! Although the hot caramel sauce was poured over the chocolate dome by a less than enthusiastic member of staff. It was an excellent way to finish off our meal at The Ivy Market Grill. However it wasn’t the end…
Jess and I popped off to the loos and when we returned to the table I was greeted with a giant profiterole with a candle in it! Profiteroles are my favourite so I was over the moon! However, I wasn’t planning on double desserting so I did require some help to finish it off! I thought it was a nice touch to bring over a Birthday dessert and was certainly a lovely place to catch up with Jess and celebrate my impending 30th Birthday!

I really enjoyed my visit to The Ivy, the food was lovely but I would say it needs something else to make it a little more outstanding and worth the price tag. I do always love visiting The Ivy though, there is many different special menus such as their Lunch Set Menu, Autumn Menu, Festive Menu and their Sunday Steak Supper (which I’d love to try!!). It’s also worth downloading their Premier Rewards app where you could get £20 off a £100 spend and also collect loyalty points whenever you dine.
Have you been to any of The Ivy restaurants recently?
