Happy Monday! I’ve got another Mother’s Day blog post today, focusing on some lovely days out to take in Yorkshire. I really want to do a lot more content on places to visit in Yorkshire so I thought I’d start with my top picks for Mother’s Day. My Mum and I love going on little days out and I think she’d probably love everything I mentioned below. There are so many places I could mention but these are some of my favourite places and things to do in Yorkshire. All making wonderful days out for Mothering Sunday.
A Relaxing Spa Day at Titanic Spa
Who doesn’t love a good spa day? My Mum and I have been trying to plan a spa day this year and the Titanic Spa in Huddersfield keeps popping up. This place looks like such a great option to enjoy a spa day in Yorkshire offering overnight stays or spa days. There are some great deals and your day pass includes access to the leisure club, outdoor hot tub, swimming pool and even your lunch. I’ve heard amazing things about this Eco-Spa and it was a winner in the World Luxury Spa Awards. It would be the perfect place to spend a very relaxing Mother’s Day with your Mum and have some girly time.
Afternoon Tea at The Grand Hotel, York
The Grand Hotel is an iconic building in York and it’s actually the cities only 5-star hotel. This Mothering Sunday they are offering a special Swing Afternoon Tea in their Grand Boardroom. Priced at £45pp with a glass of Prosecco on arrival, there will be a swing band to accompany your afternoon. This is a one-off event for The Grand but it sounds amazing and definitely right up my Mum and Grandma’s street. The food and service are excellent at the The Grand Hotel so you know that this Afternoon Tea will be an exceptional experience.
Sunday Lunch at The Stables, Crossbutts
We usually tend to go out for a Sunday Lunch on actual Mothering Sunday and do a little day out on another day. One of my favourite places to go for a Sunday Roast is The Stables at Crossbutts which is just on the outskirts of Whitby. It’s the perfect place to go for lunch before spending the afternoon wandering around the cobbled streets of Whitby. You’ll have probably seen this place on my Instagram stories as this is our go-to place for special occasions and their food is always on point. I’d highly recommend booking in advance, even you don’t go on Mother’s Day.
If you’re looking for somewhere closer in from the coast, another favourite of mine is the Stone Trough Inn which is near Kirkham Abbey around 15 minutes from York. We discovered this place at Christmas and have been back four times. It’s just a traditional pub which excellent service and food. Their Sunday Carvery is incredible where you can help yourself to Yorkshire Puddings which is a total winner for me. I’m going to be a full review of both of these restaurants very soon!
Shopping Afternoon at York’s Designer Outlet
No matter where we go, my Mum and I will end up shopping. I don’t know if you could tell from my Dublin blog post that we spent a lot of time in the shops! One of our favourite places to go shopping is the York Designer Outlet. You can always find some great bargains from stores such as Michael Kors, Mulberry, Ralph Lauren and Ted Baker. There’s always some great offers going on at the Outlet – there’s currently 40% off at Kate Spade! It’s not all about the shopping as there’s a selection of restaurants too meaning you can stop for lunch too!
Spend an Evening at the Theatre
Yorkshire is spoilt when it comes to the theatre. We’ve got the Grand Opera House in York, The Alhambra Theatre in Bradford and Leeds Grand Theatre. There are some amazing shows on over the next couple of month’s which would make an excellent Mother’s Day gift. I’m actually going to take my Mum to see Little Miss Sunshine the Musical which is coming to both York and Bradford. It’s one of our favourite movies and I was so excited to see that there’s a musical. Incredible stage shows such as Matilda the Musical, Sound of Music, American Idiot and Grease The Musical (Starring Peter Andre) are all coming to the region very soon.
What are your plans for Mother’s Day?
