Creating Travel Content During A Pandemic?
2020 has certainly been an interesting yet very strange year. Being a travel blogger during these times, it’s been difficult to know what to do, especially when travel has been so restricted. Whilst we have all had to adjust to the new normal and as a blogger, I’ve had to adapt my content to the situation, I’ve actually found myself more inspired than ever with creating content. I thought I would share some of my thoughts on the situation and I’d also love to hear your thoughts too!

Adapting my content
As the situation continuously changes, I’ve found myself adapting to my content to promote the right things at the right time. During the height of lockdown, I found it super important to be responsible with what content I was sharing and to not promote travel given the situation. As rules have been eased, I still haven’t promoted overseas content too much instead I’m focusing on travel closer to home.
I’m sure you’ll be able to tell from recent months, I’ve also been including a lot more food. Dining out at restaurants was one of the biggest things I missed during the lockdown and I’ve really enjoyed doing a bit of foodie content. I’m continuing to do my Sunday Roast Diaries most weeks and I’ll be doing a few other food posts as it’s I think it’s so important to support local and small businesses where you can.
SUPPORTING THE TOURISM INDUSTRY
Supporting the tourism industry and local businesses is so important during these times. The travel industry has taken a huge hit during the pandemic and I’d like to think I’d be able to help some businesses by sharing a lot more local travel content. Travel content is also great to have on businesses websites and can help to engage with customers so it’s worth pushing top quality content.

UK travel
Personally, I will be sticking to UK Travel til at least the end of the year. However, It’s so incredibly sad to see the state of international travel and how it’s been affected. I’m really hoping long term, things will get back to normal. During the lockdown, I was so fortunate to be able to explore a lot more of my immediate local area but I’m quite excited to have this chance to explore UK a little more than I usually would.
We have just returned from a couple of days in The Cotswolds which is a place I’ve never visited before! We had such a lovely time and there were so many gorgeous picturesque villages. Our next trip all being well will be to Scotland for a week. It’s one of Stefan’s dream trips to do a road trip around Scotland and it’ll be great to visit some new places like Glencoe, Isle of Skye, Loch Ness and Loch Lomand.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the current situation, Have you been abroad? Do you prefer me sticking to UK based travel at the moment?
XOXO

It’s tough to produce travel-related content as you don’t want to come across as insensitive or motivate people to be reckless and go against any safety regulations. I feel there’s no harm in posting an opinion piece or even a little update on the industry. Even nostalgia posts could work well.
Carolin
I am a travel blogger too and it has definitely been a challenge figuring out what to post! I caught up on some posts I was behind on and am now sticking to local things as well.
