Three Ways to Style a Trench Coat

August 22, 2017

I’m all about investing in classic items and the trench coat is top of my list. You literally cannot go wrong with a good quality trench coat, it’s a must-have staple item for everyone’s wardrobes. Whether you heading to work, dressing up for a wedding or even just around town for a day of shopping, the trench coat will be a good call.  You’ll certainly get your money’s worth out of this item as you can literally wear it to all occasions. I’m going to show how to style a trench coat in three different ways to fit different occasions. At the moment, Jack Wills has some great classic women’s trench coats, the one I have featured in this post is a very classic shape but you could also go for a cropped style like the Dollyhill Swing Trench Coat or even an oversized style.

WORKWEAR:  TRENCH COAT // SUEDE BLACK TOTE // WHITE PLEATED BLOUSE // BLACK WRAP SKIRT // LEOPARD PRINT SANDALS

The Trench Coat is perfect for wearing to work or looking a little smarter to formal occasions. Whilst the jacket keeps the outfit very stylish, add a print into the mix if you want to take it to the next level. I’m currently loving these leopard print sandals from New Look.

OCCASIONWEAR/WEDDING: TRENCH COAT // RED TASSEL EARRINGS // CHANEL SUNGLASSES // MULBERRY LILY BAG // TOPSHOP NUDE HEELS // VERO MODA RED LACE DRESS

This would be the perfect jacket to cover up whilst at a special occasion such as a wedding, especially in the cooler months. I’m just a tad obsessed with this Vero Moda lace dress which is very alike to the  Self-Portrait dresses. I think adding a pop of colour is a great idea to make your outfit stand out. Additionally, you can’t go wrong with a classic pair of nude heels to elongate your legs.

CASUAL: TRENCH COAT // STUDDED LOAFERS // STRIPED TEE // RUFFLE WAIST TROUSERS // TAN LEATHER BACKPACK

The great thing about this jacket is that it literally can be paired with anything. For my casual look, I thought I would add a little Parisian flair with a striped tee. The colours also really work well with a brown leather backpack. Let me know below, what you would pair with a trench coat. Do you have one in your wardrobe?

XOXO

The top outfit is really me. It’s such a shame I don’t suit a trench coat. I’m too short and fat :'(
