After months of waiting, Tuesday was the night that Queen Bey brought her Formation World Tour to Europe. It all kicked off in the pouring rain at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland. I don’t usually talk a lot about music on my blog but I do love going to concerts. More importantly, I’m a massive Beyoncé fan.
This was my third Beyoncé concert but I had dragged my Mum along for her first Beyoncé experience. As we had general admission tickets, we had the option of standing or been in unreserved seating. Due to the rain, we decided to sit down under shelter. I couldn’t handle another four hours in the rain and I’ve already experienced been at the front of her concerts before. Not a lot of people knew you could sit down meaning we had the pick of the whole first tier and prime position by the stage.
Once over 51,000 people had filed their way into the stadium it was time for Queen B! The stage held a massive rotating LED screen which came to life as Beyoncé walked out to the first notes of Formation. She stormed the stage surrounded by her group of dancers before strutting down the catwalk. The whole show was incredible from start to finish, the choreography, outfits was just amazing. Beyoncé well and truly slayed.
With six outfit changes, short videos from Lemonade were shown in between on the big screens to mix’s of some her songs, new and old. She sang an acapella version of Love on Top, one of my favourite songs. Alike to her perfomance at the BET Awards in LA on Sunday, she made a splash in a pool of water whilst singing Freedom. Unforunatly, Kendrick Lamar didn’t make an appearance but it was still pretty insane. As always, Beyoncé closed the show with Halo and it was just beautiful. I didn’t want to leave, it was an incredible night and I wish I had tickets to her other shows!
The only problem is that Beyoncé now has too many hit’s and some of her songs were all mixed together such as Crazy In Love. She also completly left out Single Ladies, much to the dissapointment of my Mum who had learnt the routine. Could it be time for a greatest hits tour?
Are you a Beyoncé fan? Have you seen her in concert? Are you going to the Formation World Tour?
