favourite looks from met gala

May 3, 2011

Every year i always get excited to see what everyone’s gunna wear at the Met Gala, I stayed up for abit last night to see some of the first pictures of it. This year it was the opening of the exhibit Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty which opens to the public on the 4th of may and closes July 31st. Wish i could go! There was alot of amazing gowns, i picked some of my favourites.

My overall favourite was Miranda Kerr wearing a strapless tulle and lace Marchesa dress and clutch and Nicholas Kirkwood ivory lacy platform heels and Harry Winston Jewellery. I absolutly love this ballerina styled dress! It is very White Swan and pretty. I think her and Orlando Bloom are literally the best looking couple on earth, they are so sweet together!

Also loved Emma Roberts in this beatiful white silk gown, she looked so grown up and sophisicated! I love that its quite classic and grown up but still has the discreet cut out. Her gown and croc cluth were both my Michael Kors and her drop down earrings by Chopard.
Ashley Greene wore a sequined nude custom made strapless gown by Donna Karen with a Judith Leiber clutch, and Brian Atwood shoes. I was suprised that she chose to wear something like this, but she looked amazing in it. I thought her hair looked amazing and completed the look.
Blake Lively, obviously wore Chanel Couture, the gown was from a 2009 couture collection. I thought she looked really good in the the draped styled gown, she styled in with ‘Anna’ Christian Louboutins.
Mary-Kate Olsen wears vintage Givenchy Couture dress, Van Cleef & Arpels and David Webb jewelry, a Judith Leiber sequined clutch, and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. I was a bit dissapointed she wore this but i still think she made it look good by accesorizing it so well and i am in love with the emerald cocktail ring!

Ashley Olsen wore vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and a Judith Leiber clutch. I thought she really made the dress. The gown reminded me of fairytales and mainly cinderella with the billowing sleeves.
Isabel Lucas wears a Louis Vuitton coral pleated halter gown. She looked like a greek godess – The jewelled head piece really made the look. This look is different to what everyone else wore and she pulled it off and looked beautiful.
Taylor Swift wore a nude and black lace J.Mendel couture gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes. I love the layered detail, I thought she looked really beautiful and her make-up looked amazing too!
First of all; i would kill for her body! I first saw her gown when she posted a pic online, she looked absolutly stunning! The ballgown was by Mcqueen and and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. I don’t think she could have worn a better dress!
Doutzen Kroes wears a Giambattista Valli gown, I love the shape of the dress. The whole look is so simple yet it works and i think it looks beatiful. The skirt had a dot print on which made it more fun and lovely.
Brooklyn Decker wore Michael Kors hot pink neon long-sleeved gown, shoes, and clutch, and House of Lavande jewelry. She was one of the few people who seemed to have took on the neon trend as there was alot of classic soft colours. It’s so simple yet so bold. Not too keen on the shoes though!
Sarah Jessica Parker wore a floor length Alexander McQueen creation. The gown was from a 2005 collection with a high neckline and three quartered sleeves. I love this dress!
