It’s been a rather busy week for me, I’ve just returned from a couple of days in Dublin which I’m sure I’ll be writing about very soon but before that, we had a very exciting night out with Mecca Bingo. I was kindly invited to my local Mecca Bingo Club in Scarborough for their Bonkers Bingo Event which featured Clubland Classic favourite Ultrabeat. Up until about six months ago, I’d never even been to Bingo but there have been a few events put on by Mecca Bingo that have turned my head. Previously 5ive have performed and they have just announced Blazin’ Squad as their latest event in May. I certainly will be there for that one.
This month’s exciting event was Bonkers Bingo and Ultrabeat and it was a sell-out. To be honest, there’s not a lot going on in Scarborough. Especially in Winter so it’s great to have these type of events every so often. So last Saturday night, we headed down to Mecca Bingo for the event which all kicked off at 9pm. As the title suggests this was my first Bonkers Bingo Experience and it’s exactly that. Absolutely Bonkers. The photos probably suggest otherwise, but we got there good and early to get some good Insta shots before it all started.
Bonkers Bingo is like your standard game of bingo mixed in with crazy and pointless prizes, dance-offs and just general carnage. We had three games to get through in just under two hours, simple you would think, right? You’ve got to add in all of the shots, massive giant balls thrown from the ceiling and plenty of music intervals. Despite all this going on, everyone was still determined to win one of the prizes. I had my eyes on the space hopper, because what 24 year old wouldn’t want on? Also up for grabs was a Unicorn Mask, a blog up costume and a life-size cardboard cut out of Jason Momoa aka Aquaman.
Sadly I didn’t win anything and after our three rounds of Bingo, it was time for Ultrabeat to come on stage. That’s the great thing about Scarborough’s Mecca Bingo Hall. Although it’s quite an old venue, there’s a huge stage so it’s perfect for events such as this. You’ll probably have heard Ultrabeat’s Clubland Classic; Pretty Green Eyes which is an absolute banger. So good they played it twice. Along with re-mixing loads of dance anthems old and new. It was a really great night, so good, we ended up being the last ones to leave!
As I mentioned before, Blazin Squad is the next big event to be announced at my local bingo. In the meantime, they’ve got weekly Poker Tournaments where you can be in with a chance of winning a trip to Las Vegas. Also, The Beast from The Chase is coming for a quiz night. It’s totally worth checking out what’s going on at your local Mecca Bingo as there’s a lot more going on than just your standard game of bingo.
Have you ever been to Bonkers Bingo? Do you play bingo?
*This post is in collaborations with Mecca Bingo. I was also given complimentary tickets to this event for the purpose of this review but all thoughts are my own.
