It doesn’t seem two minutes ago since I was putting together my gift guides for Christmas and now we’re moving on to Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re looking to whisk your loved one away for Valentine’s Day or splash out on a trip for February 14th, I’ve put together a list of a few pretty romantic destinations. From delightful retreats around the UK to travelling further afield to Dubai or even Thailand – there are some incredible packages which you will fall in love with (pun intended).
Champney’s Spa, Leicestershire
I’ve actually just returned from a lovely pre-valentine’s Spa Break at Champneys Springs and it was ever so lovely and relaxing. My trip was provided by Red Letter Days who have a huge selection of gifts for Valentine’s Day. There’s everything from Pamper days, Afternoon Teas, Wine Tasting, Short Breaks and many more. I’ll be doing a full blog post on my time at Champneys Springs but it’s certainly a great option if you’re looking to unwind and relax for a couple of days.
Edinburgh is one of my favourite destinations in the UK to visit. It’s the perfect place to take a little city break over Valentine’s Day and indulge in a 5* stay. The Chester Residence in the New Town provides the ultimate luxury break with beautifully decorated apartments. For Valentine’s Day, they are offering guests the Love and Romance package which includes Gin, Prosecco, Roses and Molton Brown goodies – what’s not to love?
Edinburgh is such a beautiful place to explore with so much to see and do. Whether you want to explore the cities history along the Royal Mile and Castle or visit the UK’s only Panda’s at the zoo – There’s something for everyone. I’d also highly recommend a gorgeous restaurant and bar called Tigerlily. It would be an amazing place for Valentine’s Day drinks.
You might have seen me recently mention the Bedford Lodge which is a hotel and spa based in Newmarket. They are currently offering two different Valentine’s Day packages which include a three-course meal at their award-winning restaurant The Squires. I’ve got to say their Valentine’s Day menu sounds incredible. From £290 per couple, the package includes an overnight stay, three-course meal and a bottle of champagne.
Chester is another beautiful city in the UK which would make the perfect Valentines UK Break. I finally visited Chester last year and stayed at the incredible Oddfellows Hotel in one of the Douglas Duplex Suite. It was a pretty dreamy suite which had a bathtub in the bedroom. Oddfellows have got Valentine’s package which includes a three-course meal and breakfast from £139.50. The hotel’s really central to the city making it a great base for taking a romantic stroll around the cobbled streets. Chester Zoo also isn’t too far away and would make a great day out!
If you’re a fan of the outdoors and doing something a little unique and different then this one might be for you. Wigwam Holidays is a Glamping company which different locations across the UK. I’ve found a couple in Yorkshire which is perfect for a little romantic getaway. The Humble Bee Farm located in North Yorkshire has some lovely bespoke Valentines Packages starting from £295 for two nights including locally sourced meat for meals, chocolates and wine.
I wouldn’t be able to create this post without mentioning Paris, would I? Otherwise known as the city of love, Paris is a very popular but beautiful destination to spend Valentines Day. I actually was in Paris for Valentine’s Day back in 2013 on a University Trip! The number of proposals I saw at the Eiffel Tower was unbelievable. Be prepared if you take a trip to Paris (& head to the Eiffel Tower), you will be sharing it with thousands of other lovebirds.
I’d try and avoid most of the tourist areas and enjoy taking a romantic stroll around the Parisian streets and along the River Seine. There are some gorgeous boutique hotels in Paris, The Hoxton which is located on Rue De Seniter is in a great neighbourhood with plenty of bars and delicious food about. The interior of The Hoxton is seriously dreamy and would make a lovely base for exploring the French Capital on a romantic but chilled break.
Alternatively, you could visit Disneyland Paris for Valentine’s Day. You’ll all know that this is pretty much my ideal trip any time of the year. Join the OG lovebirds Mickey and Minnie in your Valentine’s Day celebrations. Everything is so magical at Disneyland Paris and although I’m not too sure if they have specific Valentine’s Day events but they always go above and beyond to make your day special. Exploring both parks, going on the rides and enjoying delicious food sounds like a great Valentine’s Day to me.
The Ultimate European Valentines Trip
As I said before, Paris is one of the most romantic places in Europe but there are a fair few other destinations which would make the ultimate Valentines Trip. eShore’s have got in touch with me about the Importance of Romantic Holidays and they have put together a really great itinerary on 10 days in Paris, Venice and Rome – How dreamy does that sound?! I’d also like to mention this isn’t sponsored, I thought it was a great idea to so multi-city trip for V-Day. You can find out more information on the itinerary here – Prices start from £1,057 for 10 nights
Versace Palazzo, Dubai
If you’re really going for a grand gesture then going further afield to another continent might be the ticket for you. Where says grand gesture more than Dubai and at the Versace Palazzo hotel which is currently offering some divine Valentine’s Romance Packages. The package includes a candlelit three-course meal and a Chardonnay Grapes Ritual Treatment for Two. Destinology is currently offering a three-night package, half board with return flights from the UK with Emirates for £965 per person.
If you’re looking for a romantic but very chilled and relaxing break then heading to Thailand might be the one for you. Sit back and relax whilst you take in the beautiful surroundings of the Amari, Phuket Resort located on Patong Beach. What really caught my attention about the Amari Resort was the outdoor jacuzzi which has panoramic views over the bay and jungle. Stays throughout the month of February, the Just the two of us package is available starting at £193 per night which includes breakfast, couple’s massages and romantic evening meals.
New York City
Finally, we have my favourite city in the whole world; New York City. I don’t think there would be anything better than exploring the streets of Manhattan, wandering around Central Park and devouring on many slices of pizza with the one you love. February is one of the most affordable times to book a trip to New York City but this is because it can get ever so chilly. There weather there is -10 at the moment! The Viceroy Central Park Hotel is in a great location on 57th Street to take a lovely walk around Central Park. The best thing about this hotel is it’s a rooftop bar which has incredible views over the skyline and central park. The perfect place for a Valentine’s Day toast!
Hopefully, this gives you a few ideas of romantic getaways for Valentine’s Day or just any day really. Let me know in the comments if you have any special plans. Have you ever gone on a mini break for Valentine’s Day?
