Five Places on my UK Travel Bucket List 2019

Over the last 18 months, I’ve been really focusing on exploring more of the UK and visiting places I’ve always wanted to go. Last year, I ticked off Windsor and Brighton and this year I recently visited Chester and their amazing zoo! In July, I had a lovely break in the Lake District and also was lucky enough to explore Aberdeenshire on a road trip with the tourism board. I’ve definitely been enjoying the beautiful sights which are just on the doorstep! However, there are a few more UK Travel destinations I’m very keen to explore very soon.

Visit Oxford and Exploring Harry Potter Filming Locations

Despite living in Birmingham for three years and travelling through the area quite a lot (& many trips to Bicester Village!), I never got the chance to visit Oxford and The Cotswolds.  I’m gutted I didn’t take advantage of only being an hour away on the train and take a couple of day trips to the area.

I’d love to visit Oxford just to see some of the places which inspired the locations for Harry Potter. I love hunting down a Harry Potter filming location and there are many spots which featured in the films as Hogwarts. Also, the Christ Church Dining Hall was the main inspiration behind the Great Hall, although you can see the real hall which they used for filming at the Warner Bros Studio Tour. However, this might be a destination to be ticked off my bucket list sooner rather than later. I’m heading to London this weekend and a potential day trip to Oxford may be on the cards!

Discovering the Beautiful Beaches of Cornwall

Can you believe I’ve never been to Cornwall? You’ll probably realise that most of these locations on my UK Travel Bucket List are all quite far down south. Aside from Gatwick Airport and Brighton, I’ve never really explored anywhere south of London. Cornwall has some of the prettiest beaches in the UK, if not the world! Visiting the Eden Project would also be on my list of places to visit! There’s so much to explore in Cornwall that I wouldn’t know where to start. I’m hoping to visit in late Summer and fly down from Leeds Bradford as flight prices are pretty reasonable.

Five Places on my UK Travel Bucket List - Bedford Lodge Hotel

A Spa Break Staycation in Suffolk

Who doesn’t love a good spa break? I’m hoping to make 2019 the year that I visit a few more spa’s and enjoy a Spa Break Staycation. The Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa in Newmarket, Suffolk is a gorgeous luxury hotel and would be the perfect place for a little staycation. Not only have I not visited Suffolk before, but this place also seems to have everything for a relaxing break. The spa offers a range of treatments in their state of the art and award-winning facilities. As the hotel is in the heart of Newmarket it’s a great base if you are visiting for a Raceday meet as it’s not too far from Newmarket Racecourse. The spa even offers pre-race day treatments to get you looking and feeling your best for the big day.

Bath

Bath is a place which I have wanted to visit in the UK for the longest time. I’ve just not really had the chance as it’s a pretty long way down from North Yorkshire. After hearing all about Haydy’s trip to Bath a couple of weeks ago, I’m more determined than ever to make a trip down there. It’s around five and a half hours on the train or by car but it would certainly be worth it to explore such a beautiful city. There seems like there is so much to do and see including the iconic and historic Roman Baths.

Five Places on my UK Travel Bucket List 2019 - Scotland

A Scottish Roadtrip

Scotland is a big country and whilst I’ve visited many of times including my recent trip to Aberdeenshire, I’m hoping to do another road trip and really visit some of the higher points in Scotland. We don’t really have a plan as of yet but I’d love to go up to the Isle of Skye, visit the Highlands again and try and hunt down the Loch Ness Monster. If you’ve done something like this before, please send across recommendations! Where would you visit in Scotland?

Have you visited any of these places before? Let me know if you have any recommendations. Where is on your UK Travel Bucket list?

XOXO

I love so many of the places you mentioned here! Bath is absolutely beautiful and, growing up in nearby Devon, we always went on holiday to Cornwall every year (Tintagel is my fave!). Hope you get to explore all of these places and more this year

A Scottish road trip is high up on my list! I’d also love to visit more of Cornwall. Bath is beautiful – it’s only an hour train journey from Cardiff so relatively close to me. I love it there 🙂 xx
