My Stay At The Hotel Indigo, York

A couple of weeks ago, I turned the grand age of 24 and to mark the occasion, my boyfriend and I went on a little road trip. We started off in York before heading over to Liverpool, Chester and then on to Manchester. York is basically my second home, it’s about an hour away making it the perfect place for a stop off. The Hotel Indigo York had also invited us for a stay and we couldn’t wait to check out the hotel. I’ve previously visited the hotel which is on Walmgate; a short walk from the city centre for an event in their restaurant which you can read all about here.

As i mentioned, the boutique hotel isn’t that far from the city centre and within the city walls. I had been really looking forward to my stay as I’ve followed the Hotel Indigo York on social media for a quite a long time. I’d seen that the whole decor which certainly has a Yorkshire inspired element really stood out. We were quickly checked in on arrival and shown to our first floor room. Even the key cards were cute with “open sesame” written on them. It’s the little things like this that I really appreciate.

We were staying in a Standard Bedroom but it certainly felt like something special. The decor really blew me away with lot’s of frames above the bed, unique lamp shades and a very stylish bathroom (complete with local amenities from Harrogate). The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve slept in, it was one of those you didn’t want to leave to go out. Yes, I took an afternoon nap. However, it was pretty high up – You almost needed step ladders to jump down off the mattress!

There was little touches to the decor to remind you that we were in Yorkshire. All of the furniture and furnishings have been designed and crafted in the region by local business’s which is an aspect I absolutely love. In the lobby, there was even an area of handcrafted York souvenirs which is great for guests to make a last minute souvenir purchase before making their way home.

That evening, we decided to check out Spark:York which is just around the corner from the hotel. I’d heard lot’s about this outdoor space which is made up of larger containers housing local street vendors and bars. We tried Dough Eyed Pizza, Sloppy’s Burgers and 4Swings Cocktails and I would recommend all three! Especially the dinosaur cocktail from 4Swings!

After grabbing a bite to eat and a couple of drinks, we decided to have an early night and take advantage of the Samsung Smart TV in our room. We could hook up our phone to the TV and stream all sorts from our apps such as YouTube, Netflix and HayU! Our early night didn’t end up being that early as we ended up watching a few movies!

Breakfast was included in our stay and served in the No.88 Walmgate Restaurant which is where I’ve previously visited. One of my favourite things about staying in a hotel is a good hotel breakfast and this one didn’t disappoint. As well as having an array of items on the menu from a Full English Breakfast to Smoked Salmon we were spoilt for choice in terms of pastries, breads, cereals, smoothies and cold meats. We both went for the Full English Breakfast to set up us for the day and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely want to come back to the restaurant on an evening and see what else they have got to offer.

I had such a lovely stay at The Hotel Indigo York. It was a great way to kick off my Birthday Road Trip. It’s such a great boutique hotel in the heart of York. So whether you’re looking for a little trip away from home like myself or heading to York for a couple of days sightseeing – it’s the perfect hub! It’s also very much worth the stay for the extra comfy beds and yummy breakfasts! The Hotel Indigo York also has Thursday Sessions going on where they have a live DJ and prosecco flowing! Sounds like my kind of night!

Have you visited York before? Whats your favourite thing about staying in a hotel? The Breakfast?

XOXO
