Italy is a country which I could visit over and over again. Steeped in so much history, art and of course, delicious food, it’s got something for everyone. Last year, I went to Milan and I’m so desperate to explore the country more as there are so many different places I’d love to visit from the Amalfi Coastline to the Capital City of Rome. I’ve put together some of the best tours and excursions to get the most out of your trip to Italy.
With so much to see in Rome and Vatican City, booking an excursion or tour to get around the highlights may be the way forward. Booking a tour for the Vatican comes highly recommended for skipping the huge ques as you get to skip them! Some tours also include skipping the line for other sights such as the Colosseum making it worthwhile to book the tour.
Whenever you think of Italy, it would be hard not to think of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Located in the region of Tuscany it’s a great day trip if you’re based in Florence. It would be rude not to visit Pisa and get the obligatory holding up the tower photo.
If we had one more day in Milan, we would have certainly gone up to Lake Como which was easy to reach from the city on the train. It’s actually a really popular day trip from Milan and Lake Como looks utterly breathtaking.
If opera is your thing then you are in the right place by visiting Italy. Opera Tours Italy offer specialised escorted Opera Holidays to Lucca and Verona where you’ll stay in top-class hotels, meet experts and see some incredible shows. In these cities, you’ll find some of the most iconic venues for opera in the world making it an unforgettable experience.
Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world with many of the top fashion houses originating from Italy. Not only can you find some of the most incredible stores in the world but many Italian Fashion Houses have incredible Designer Outlets such as The Space by Prada store, Dolce & Gabanna and Fendi. The Mall which is located near Florence is hailed as the best in Italy and sells a multitude of designers at a snip of the retail price. I think a trip solely to visit the Italian outlets is needed! Sign me up!
Verona, the setting of two star-crossed lovers and a destination on my Italian bucket-list. It’s a great day trip if you are in Venice and not too far away from Lake Garda. One of the main sights in Verona is, of course, Juliet’s House where you can leave your own love note and see that famous balcony!
Another dream Italian destination is to visit the Amalfi Coast which you can actually get an excursion to do in a day from Rome. I’d love to spend more than a day there though visiting places like Sorrento, Positano and Naples. Some of these excursions also include a trip to Pompeii to see the ancient Roman ruins.
Have you been to any of these places in Italy? Are you a fan of taking excursions and day trips?
