A few weeks ago, I headed over to York to try out the new menu at The Cosy Club. The restaurant is located down Fossgate in one of my favourite areas and if you’re familiar with York, you might remember that this property used to be a huge vintage store! I’ve previously dined at The Cosy Club before but only from their lunchtime menu which is served until 5pm and has some deals! It was my boyfriends first time here and we were both excited to see what was on the new menu.
There was also a new drinks menu too at The Cosy Club from Strawberry and Cream flavoured Gin Cocktail and their Summer Sangria. I went for an old favourite of mine; The English Garden which is a mix of Hendrick’s Gin, Elderflower and Apple Juice. My boyfriend went for one of the Coconut Macaroon Mocktail which was created by a mixologist from The Cosy Club in Lincoln. The menu described it as a liquid cake and it was just that, very sweet!
One of the main additions to the menu is their tapas and sharers section where there’s plenty to choose from. Obviously, I had to order the Halloumi Sticks with Chipotle Chilli Jam but we also went for the Popcorn Bacon Bites and Pulled Chicken and Chorizo. I’ve never seen or heard of Popcorn Bacon Bites but this needs to be more of a thing because they were delicious!
For our mains, I decided to go for the Rib-Eye Steak served with sweet potato fries and Stefan went for the Major General Burger. This beef burger was pretty incredible topped with a macaroni cheese fritter. I had serious food envy as it looked absolutely delicious! I would have to say that my steak wasn’t as flavoursome as I would’ve liked as it was slightly dry.
Finally, I couldn’t resist getting a dessert. One of the new items on the menu was the Nutella Doughnut and it was obviously screaming out to me. The Doughnut was served with Nutella, Raspberry Sauce and topped with candy floss. The raspberry sauce was a little bit too much mixed with everything else. It was definitely a dessert choice for those who like very sweet and sugary items.
We had a lovely evening at The Cosy Club and will definitely be back as I want to try the Major General Burger for myself and the Popcorn Bacon needs to happen again! It’s an absolutely lovely place to go for food. The decor is spot on and it’s a perfect place to go for a spot of lunch.
Have you been to The Cosy Club before? Have you ever had a Mac and Cheese Burger?
