One of my favourite things to do every year is going to The Races. I absolutely love dressing up and making a day out of it. York is my nearest Racecourse and I’ve been going most years since I was about 10. Even when I was younger, what I wore to the races was super important to me. I’ve posted a few #Throwback images on Twitter from various outfits worn to the races! Thank me later!
If you’re attending Royal Ascot there will usually be a dress code. For example; this year women were required to wear dresses with straps wider than an inch and the length to be of a modest length. Other race meets don’t usually have these dress codes but I do prefer to make an effort. I’ve picked out some of my favourite dresses (and jumpsuits!) from the high street; all under £100.
Quiz Clothing has got some great picks at the moment, I love the one shouldered navy dress with a fishtail hem. I think you could make a really classy statement in this dress with a strong hat choice. I’ve never actually gone for a hat or even a fascinator for the races but it is a popular choice for some. Quiz Clothing also have a Curve range with a selection of gorgeous Plus Size Dresses.
Chi Chi Clothing and Closet London are both brands that I immediately gravitate towards when looking for occasionwear. Chi Chi always have the best dresses for weddings, the races and just generally feeling like a princess. I’m absolutely loving this floral dress I spotted on Closet London and I’ll be styling it up myself in a couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that one. The clothing on Closet is so well made and high quality, they never fail to impress me. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, Missguided is always the one. There are so many gorgeous dresses on there at the moment perfect for the races!
