I mentioned in Tuesday’s blog post that my Mum and I took a little trip to York last week. We had a wander around the beautiful streets, did a little shopping and enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea. I teamed up with Tesco Direct who offer a range of gift experiences and activities from spa days, afternoon tea & gourmet experiences, hotel stays and much more. As it was recently Mother’s Day and also my Mum’s Birthday last week, it was perfect timing to treat her to an Afternoon Tea for two at Patisserie Valerie.
Patisserie Valerie is one of my favourite places to go for cake and a hot chocolate but I have never tried their Afternoon Tea before. Our gift experience retails for £35 and included Afternoon Tea for two and also £10 worth of cakes! We headed over to the Coppergate branch which was pretty busy as it was the Easter holidays but we were soon seated. As it was a gift experience, we had activated the voucher online and everything was taken care for us at the cafe.
Along with a hot drink each, we got a selection of sanwich’s, two scones each and some delicious cakes. As my Mum had given up chocolate for lent, I got both of the chocolate eclairs and a scrumptious chocolate cake. That left her with a victoria sponge, a carrot cake and a minature berry mousse. It was all so delicious and well worth the price tag of £35!
Unfortunately, it was pretty busy at this branch of Patisserie Valerie and there was barely any cakes left to take home. The manager was really nice about it and told us to come back another day and we would still be able to get £10 worth of cakes, which works out at four cakes. It worked out well though as we were so full after the afternoon tea. I don’t think we could have eaten anything else! We can’t wait to go back though and choose some cakes to take home.
I love spending time with my Mum and it’s always fun to do something lovely like this every so often. Our next adventure is actually next week! We are going to be heading down to Brighton and Windsor on a Great British Holiday! Any recommendations on places to visit or eat would be amazing!
I was kindly gifted this experience by Tesco Direct to treat my Mum to something special. All opinions are my own. You can find more information on the Tesco Direct Gift Experiences here.
